I think it’s bloody marvellous to be honest and the only thing I can say against it is that it’s very similar in colour to last season’s away and we generally rotate away colours. But I don’t care really.

Love the colour. Love the collar. Think the kestrel looks great and if people outside the club don’t get why it’s there they can look it up - or ask.

Like the home kit too, which is a nod to the 97/98 premier league shirt.

I’m sure the third will be ok too.

I don’t understand the comments about JAQ on here and elsewhere - whether you like the shirt or not. I’m not sure what that woman could do to get people off her back. If her remit is doing things to create talking points and raise the profile of the club in doing so, she’s succeeding massively.

The kit is merely a side issue anyway - more importantly I’d like to know who we can expect to be wearing it at the end of the window.

On guarantee for Barnsley FC in the summer is that the shirt designs will, without doubt, divide opinion. Even more so than our transfer window.

Can’t wait to see the lime green 3rd with a whippet and a ferret wearing a flat cap next!
JAQ should be nowhere near kit design

Imagine Haworth without the Brontës, just another pennine commuter hamlet.

I nearly like it, in that with a different badge and without the kestrel I think it's a good kit.

I don't like our badge for a football club, it's way too fussy for the requirements (primarily an emblem on a kit or a graphic on TV). And I'd prefer a unique identity for the club, rather than just a copy of the town emblem. This is a particularly poor interpretation of it. A black version would have looked much better.

I've long since thought we should adopt the kestrel, but not like that. I'd like to see it as the club crest.

Summat like this, but not thrown together in 2 minutes.

First of all, are we certain it actually is a kestrel?
Knowing our achievement rate it might be a gooney bird.
    Only asking.

Didn't like that, too many Leeds connotations.

There was obviously an attempt to rebrand when Mansford was CEO. And before the current board came to power, it was something the club were again looking at behind the scenes. But there was no discernible design or agreed focus point.

I think the fact the club is even more wedded to the council now sees it unlikely that the town crest will be going anywhere. Which I find a shame. Because from a marketing and brand POV, the crest holds the club back, in my opinion.

But then, regardless of kit, crests or marketing, the club’s unwillingness or inability to engage with its fanbase will always stifle progress anyway. Again, they talked the talk back end of last season. About how they’d reconnect, re-engage etc. I’ve seen very little evidence of that. Usually, this weekend would have seen some sort of open day, but even that’s been scrapped for the last couple of summers.

I really wanted to feel energised and excited about getting back to Oakwell this season but it’s all very meh and I fear we could be about to embark upon a campaign that’ll make last year seem idyllic.

Our defence, and our midfield options to protect the defence, scare the bejesus out of me. We could be in for some right hammerings.

And we have one central striker. And he's nearly 38. People will argue that DKD can play there. He can if you want to dramatically reduce how effective he is. Nowt like putting your best player, a genuine star in the division, in a position that doesn't suit him and weakens his game.

    Anyway, with a black badge...

With you on that. The white rose in no way reflected Barnsley. Other than we just happen to be in Yorkshire. (Leeds thinks its the only place and therefore capital of the county. York are the only team that imo could use the logo)

I hope I’m wrong obviously, but I don’t think we’ve solved any of the issues defensively, unless Shep plays like Pinnock.

As for the shirt, your photo just makes me even more perplexed at their decision to go with the full colour version and on a red frame.

It’s like the person designing it has a similar brain to those involved in ensuring we start a football season without a right back for the first time in my lifetime.
