I reckon it's ok as it is. There's no need to tamper with this part of the game.

The ball is in play, so does seem daft. Why do people have to mess and try to create the wheel and end up with a triangle?

Agreed,if the goalkeeper Parry's it to a position player it's still in play so leave it as it is.

Was mentioned in another thread a couple of days ago. Absolute nonsense, and surely unworkable in practice? As @TonyTyke says, the ball is in play as soon as it's struck. At what point is it supposed to go dead again? When the goalie touches it? In which case, even getting a hand to it should mean a goal can't be scored, even if the ball then crosses the line. When it hits the woodwork? So what happens if it then rebounds in off the goalie? If it's pushed behind, is a corner given?

There are plenty of aspects of the game which could be improved, but I can't even begin to imagine anyone thinking that penalty rebounds were a problem.

Can’t understand why football authorities seem intent on fixing problems that don’t exist.

I wouldn't object to a rule stipulating that the penalty taker can't score from a rebound.

Why? They can't score if it hits the woodwork as that would be two touches, but if the ball's in play it's in play. Penalty rebounds are a legitimate and very exciting part of the game, which should be left exactly as they are.

Some fouls inside the box don't deserve a penalty and almost a guaranteed goal. The 12 yard penalty had been in existence since year dot when the ball was made from bladder and an old dishcloth. I'd make it 15 yards.

A completely baffling idea that doesn't make any sense. They're planning on trialling it at the World Cup; I can see it going against one of the top teams in the world and then being shelved.

Oh I thought this was about the rule not giving Barnsley FC blatant penalties but giving soft ones against em

There is a lot of foul play which goes unpunished because it is committed in the penalty area which would be given as a free kick elsewhere on the pitch. Referees bottle it in such circumstances and pundits claim "it is not enough of a foul". Foul play is foul play. So long as the match official is consistent there should be no issue.

What about the way they fixed the immense problem of kicking ball the forward at the kick off. Allowing the ball to be passed back has improved the spectacle greatly and has the added bonus of increasing the number of back passes in the game, which I think we all want to see.
    Who are these looneys?

Just a group of people trying to justify their salary.

Some of the rule changes over the last few years has ruined football. I don’t enjoy the game anymore. VAR, the offside rule is so hard to follow now, the new 8 second rule for goalkeepers is going to ruin the game at all levels.

    Leave the game alone!

Why not have a 'lesser' penalty of a spot kick from the place where the foul was made, eg. if they were tripped running towards the corner flag away from goal along the goal line
