I wouldn't disagree with that mate. Watching him in the friendlies he appears to wander over to the middle, leaving the wide player more space than an Olympic sized swimming pool. If Conor goes with him I reckon we'd need a back 5. So back to square one.
Well Conor needs to go and knock on the DoFs door and ask the waste of space where the signings to balance and fill the squad are and if he doesn't get a satisfactory answer he needs to be telling the board that the DoF isn't up to the job before the DoF has to start looking for another human shield when it all goes tits up. We look like we are going into the first game of the season without a recognised full back available for either side and without a recognised right back at all.
I'm sure that Mladen and Conor will be working very closely together and full of praise for each other. I'm always optimistic about the playoffs when we're in L1 but if things don't go well then it will be interesting to see how the blame game pans out between them both.
You do go heavy on Sormaz all the time don't you? I personally feel like he made some mistakes in his first year in a new job with little support around him & has done a decent job wheeling and dealing this pre season.
It'll be reyt. MDG: A right sided defender who's strength is getting forward and weakness his lack of size and strength (making him less suited to being a centreback). Perfect to be a right back, no? I think he'll grow in to the role once he gets dialled in. People are saying full backs need electrifying pace and also fondly remembering Sollbauer. There's a contradiction there. Although perhaps Sollbauer was more a centreback anyway.
Not sure why electrifying pace is what folk want. ? Full Backs in a back 4. I'm looking to someone who can defend as the main priority. Hence Conors like of wingers. Not wing backs.
He doesn’t need electric pace what he does need to do is outpace my Nan who has been dead for 20 years and MDG would struggle to do that.
With the seemingly decent addition late last night, wonder if this means no RB for weekend then as Conor said they only hopeful of one before weekend.
Thank goodness Conor has been meticulous in the pre season planning other wise we would be in trouble. On the Mladen front, nobody outside the club knows what contribution the club are making to players who have been loaned out. The wheeling and dealing may not be quite as profitable as you think.
I'm not sure why people think replacing him with someone else suddenly means that the new person will suddenly have magical access to bunch of new players who are available for sale, wanted by a Conor, fit the price range and want to come to the club.
I don't disagree, but we've reduced the wages we're paying on plenty of lads who either haven't worked out or don't fit. The vast majority bought before Mladen got involved I'd add...
Its the DOF 3 rd window I believe. If you're not prepared to give him some slack you'll always be on him with some sort of agenda. Conor wanted some pacy attacking players and the club have provided that.I've no doubt a right back will be forthcoming possibly another striker the we can assess the DOF window.Looking pretty good to me so far.
Remind me when we signed DKD. And when most other movements take place. It's still a sellers market (As in our case). Can't force anyone to come when they are edging their bets. I rather not settle for anyone. We will not be the only club in this position by a country mile. But I would also go with what we've got than what happened at the end of the last window. Trying to appease the fans with the dregs. Almost every signing we've made has games in their locker.
