Does anyone know what's the latest on his situation.? He seems to have disappeared off the radar. No updates that I can find. He came back with good reviews. I think injury was mentioned but that was weeks ago. Updates on Jalo and Ghent but nothing on him. Nwakali has burnt his bridges by the sound of it. And will have to knuckle down big style if he wants a way back in. Need to try offload if not, as he will be a waste of a sizeable wage. Or we need to try get a mutual agreement to cancel his contract.
In that group called not part of first team plans, will be moved on, good luck to the lad just one of those that hasn't worked out.
Always thought he looked decent in early part of 2023/24 season until he got injured. Never had a look in since.
Dallas, Lopata and Nwakali all on the out list. Think we'll shift Lopata easily enough but reckon we'll struggle with the other two.
Near ever present defender in a team relegated to Scottish Championship, probably makes him L2/ National League level.
Agreed. I don't think any Reds fans have seen enough of him to make a proper judgement about how good he is.
After last season, he'll get another club up here - probably in the lower reachers of the SPL - no problem, though I suspect he might want to weigh up all his options before deciding where to move.
From my memory of Lopata he was ok heading and in a 50/50 challenge but very slow and turned like an oil tanker
I thought he looked slow. I haven't seen much of him but you get a good idea of pace pretty much straight away. Having said that, Paul Futcher was slow and he's as good as I've ever seen. Can't speak much about the rest of his game as he hasn't played for us much but I didn't get the impression he was so bad that he shouldn't have been involved with the first team in preseason and shouldn't be selected on the bench if we're lacking options. I get that we want to move him on and I understand that, and he probably wants to move on too, but I'm not understanding freezing players out completely, particularly when we're low on numbers. Maybe we're not, maybe he'll be on the bench at Plymouth.
I agree on the slow part. He is a hard working lad who always came across well on interview and I am sure is a solid enough old school type defender who can throw himself in front of shots and head it away. Great for someone but don't think he suits what we need now. In a team operating in more of a low block where you need someone like Lopata to do the fundamentals he'd be fine, not sure on Ross County and how they play, but as a smaller side in the SPL, I imagine that was how they had to operate so that is probably why it went well for him there. But for a team wanting to play high a pressing, attacking front foot style, with full backs bombing on etc. he probably doesn't suit that due to that lack of pace and ability on the ball to play out.
I don’t really see how anyone’s seen enough to make a proper assessment. He played a bit and did alright to well after making a pretty big step up, in a team that wasn’t doing well. He then got a serious injury. He then wasnt injured anymore and we sent him out on loan to get fitness and up to speed - by all accounts it was a positive loan against opposition similar to the level we will be facing. We are now here. Am I missing something?
