We need to keep up the same intensity. We have good options on the bench, but I'm expecting a response from Plymouth. Need to start the second half strongly.
Imho...A good 45 for us. We looked bright and incise with our passing, with refreshingly everyone seeming to know their roles. Plymouth were victims of their own downfall with sloppy clearances and poor passing at times. That said I thought our press was good and so far I think Connor has out thought their coach. Vickers looks bright and good and Connell looking to do what we know he can very well. Thought Robbo was our best player ....shame he's had to come off....I hope it won't hurt us too much. Ref needs to keep an eye on their play acting ...I can see them getting back into it.
Think at times we’ve got away with murder but we’re looking dangerous going forward , unfortunately our small squad is being tested already with the Roberts injury we really need to top the squad up with another 3/4 players or we will struggle.
Decent half that. Both sides clearly want the 3 points, we’ve had a bit of luck with the goals but we take what we can when we can, they were both tied with quality btw at the same time, Connells cross and Phillips finish. Robbo injury is a shame. Yoganathan doesn’t look out of place. Whole team looks tenacious when out of possession. Got a feeling cleary comes on around 60th to replace McGoldrick and we’ll put DKD central. Here’s to hoping we can hold out and come home with the 3 points. You reds!
Wow – great scoreline at half-time. We started sluggishly and were guilty of overplaying at the back, struggling initially to cope with their press. Surprised to see Yaganathan dropping so deep at times, but he’s been impressive – both in and out of possession. Vickers looks a real outlet on the right, and we’ve looked dangerous on the break. The goal was a bit fortunate, but no complaints – a quality delivery from Connell. It took us a while to get our own press going, but when we did it looked effective. I admire that we’re trying to play football, but it’s definitely hearts-in-mouth stuff at times. Cooper’s looked solid in goal apart from one brain fart – he’s fast becoming my new favourite player even with that beatnik beard. Stunning goal from Phillips – absolute class. The ref’s not been great, and they’re playing silly buggers, but good to see us standing up to it and not being intimidated. Their pace still worries me, and we were fortunate with the disallowed goal. Bit of backs-to-the-wall stuff toward the end of the half, and we rode our luck, but thankfully they didn’t capitalise. Disappointing to see Roberts go off, but we’re not short on centre-backs, and I’m glad Bland was brought in to play at right-back. Hopefully, we calm things down a little in the second half and see the game out though we might need a third.
McGoldrick got the ball, and Shepherd did nothing wrong. It was the Plymouth player doing the holding. Shepherd had his arms out, trying to get up. The disallowed goal was a clear pull on Roberts. The penalty claim was a dive. Cooper got the ball and their player ran into him. So I don’t know why their fans were booing the ref.
And not a single bit of bias in that analysis that gave every single decision to Barnsley. Not one, no sir, honest.
Our defence looks disorganised. However, some good stuff at times. My worry is that this ref has a sending off in him, and knowing us it'll be one of ours.
Taken from the BBS sport website: "Barnsley have the lead, but Argyle have been incredibly unlucky with decisions against them and missed chances." Awwww bless.
The other players got Shepherd booked there. By the time the ref had seen what was going on Weirdo had been pulled over and it looked like Shepherd is the instigator.
Connell not being booked for diving and then deliberately handballing it on the edge of our penalty box with no covering defenders could be one reason. The keeper being allowed to ram through their striker who was heading towards our goal could be another
