He didn’t look outstanding to me. Just steady. But I’m glad I included the ratings at the end as it’s good to see what others reckoned.

 

MdG truly awful defending for the one Cooper had to turn round the post in the first half and lord knows what he was doing for their goal. Two CBs were needed and even more so know. If we can get them, a RB and a CF to share duties with McGoldrick we're in good shape.

 

I do think Mael had a good game mostly but after what he did for their goal, I wouldn't rate him a 9.

That's what happens when you look for a defender making a mistake and not understanding how they work as a unit. If Mael closed the shot down it would've been a simple pass down the side and they'd cut it back into the box, instead it was a shot from the edge of the area. Please try to be reasonable even if you dislike a player or dont trust him.

 

I do enjoy reading your stuff @YT always balanced and considered.

I said at the time Earl was 100% targeted at left back. The ball in behind (that I seem to talk about all the time - probably boring others) just seemed to catch him out. In possession as well he was a little bit loose. When he settled down and moved inside he looked far more accomplished. MDG probably surprised a few, kept it simple and you can see why he’s being kept around, hopefully as a backup rather than a full season starter.

Luca was back to somewhere near his best and it was great to see. He makes a difference and again, kept it simple.

I really liked the look of all the new signings that played. If those are the ponds we’re fishing in I’m more than happy.
