As I've alluded to earlier in the thread, the only person who can save them is JW. But he seems intent on letting them go under just like he did with Worcester, the papers are ready to be signed but he won't do it
A friend of ours lives there and used to be involved with the club to a degree (runs the local advertising mag - Local Choices or similar). A lot of his acquaintances were there too putting money and expertise in over the years, but all were either alienated or walked away due to dubious appointments such as the current and last. It's a sad state of affairs, went to some great events there; proper community hub. Will be a sad day if it folds.
We get local choices here in Arnside....it will be an awful day........spose I am fortunate in a way as they are my second team.....but there will be a lot of support to get a Phoenix club off the ground......Globe Arena, oops Mazuma as it is now will probably be too much of an undertking, it is one of the reasons the club has been losing so much money over the last years...until 2 years ago they were the only league club never to have lost at Wembley, 3 wins and never to have been relegated in their 100 year plus History.....the former Directors have been amazing in their dedication over the years but sadly they too had enough about a month ago, they cme back on board when JW said he was definatley signing the sale off and when he didn't and they said they were going to take the club into administration he sacked them....despicable bloke........imagine if Leeds, Chelsea, Millwall etc had a man like that involved.......
Apparently he has basically said this to the former board.....you really can't believe it, no one can see what he is getting out of it....
Most of the groungd is owned by a local trust set up by the clubs founder JB Christie but it is a grey area really....bits have been sold off over the last few years....
The Eden Project North, if it come off could well be the savour for the resort.....certinly a lot of property speculators have been buying up land and houses in the town as a result..but who knows what will happen there, LAncaster City Council, Morecmbe comes under them, concentrate on Lancaster, even last year they were going to close down the Plactform, the best live music venue in the town.........
I'm guessing that's home support in the main mate. But when we played there the last time. All the day coaches weren't allowed go in. Possibly 400 folk. The bar owners in morecambe were fuming. A bus load of us had gone up on the Friday and informed em what was happening.
The article said it was a bit of both, one said 4-500 in the bar and it felt like all of Morecombe was there another said his hotel with 19 rooms was always booked with away fans. Also said Morecombe FC was one of largest employers locally. I’ve never been so can’t comment on experience just what it said on BBC.
A lovely gesture from Harrogate Town. Offering Morecambe season ticket holders a free ticket for their game with Grimsby at the weekend.
I think the Morecambe fans are going through enough without being sent to watch Bury. They were supposedly being liquidated yesterday, so it has to be a good sign it's not been announced.
What’s wrong with Bury. My mate is from Bury and a Bury fan. A club which was harshly treated by the FA. Went bust but now doing their best to come back. Now in league eight I think. Chris telling me there is a great community effort to get the Shakers back into the top leagues.
Spent money they didn't have, got a second chance, spent money they didn't have, went bust. Didn't learn.
Surely the incompetent directors should have been taken to court and punished. Not making the fans pay for the miss doings and punish the fans by liquidating the club they love
Not liquidated, club ran out of money so all football operations have ceased. Can't play without insurance but they've effectively got 15 days before the national league kick them out. Until then they have the faintest of hopes JW comes to his senses and signs the papers
Chansari holds all the cards at Wednesday, similar situation to Morecambes owner No one can force his hand to sell, He owns the league registration too If he wants he can basically tell the EFL to do one and disband the football club Off set his losses against tax regardless that its his own doing if I'm not mistaken He can then flatten Hillsborough and nobody can stop him no matter the moaning, its his to do as he pleases. Harsh but that's the reality of it all.
Just to let you all know out of interest, Bridlington Town beat Knaresborough Town, 2 - 1 last neight, to go through to the preliminary round of the F,A,Cup.
