I don't suppose they will see a definitive angle on that one, should be asking the defender if he wasn't injured why didn't get straight up off Shepherd.
I am glad this provides us with an opportunity to present what happened, as I suspect we wouldn’t have otherwise approached the FA about it. The player who punched Vimal needs to have some action taken against him. You’d hope the FA would understand why our players got involved, but I doubt that changes the rules that they shouldn’t have done so. It may go some way to mitigating it though, I guess it depends what sort of precedent they want to set. It being the first game of the season probably doesn’t help.
Whilst you make a very valid point and counter argument, it won't remove the yellow/red shepherd got. It won't also (from previous incidents) change anything other than BFC being in trouble for something that was not in any way of our own making. Just standing our ground. Personally, and I know it isn't a 2 wrongs make a right, i'd absolutely knock the chops up off both he bloke that hit Vimal, and the bloke who started the whole shabang. ******* the lot of them.
I can only assume, but I imagine its from the referees report which has had to have been looked at? Hence both being charged so far
Absolutely ridiculous, and what's the betting we come off worse than Plymouth in the end. Having watched it back a few times I'm still struggling to see what Shepherd did to warrant the yellow, apart from being pinned under their player who was clearly having a go at him.
Hmm. Not enough for him to have both sets fans booing him off at the end then. Edit - Maybe the booing influenced his report??
Ref trying to cover his arse, blowing a smokescreen around his incompetence and the fact he nearly played on after booking the same player twice. Numpty.
This is why watching Barnsley has become a farce, for me. You pay your money to watch a football match, but we always end up as some weird referee comedy show, especially against the bigger clubs. • Opposition start cheating • Referee loses his nerve • Match gets out of hand • Referee loses control • At least 1 Barnsley player comes off worst • Rinse and repeat See: Shepherd/Hume/Wembley/Willard
Surely the FA should examine the footage and all available evidence before ‘charging’ Seems to me that we’re guilty until proven innocent
Rescind the first Yellow for Shep, which nullifies his Red, and a 3-match ban for the guy who threw the punch.
Conor has more or less said Shepherd is out for Saturday. But imo it's two yellows he could do without. Putting pressure on the lad.
With these things, if you’re charged they’ve generally decided you’re guilty. There’s no reasonable doubt in the policing of these matters. They’ve decided based on the footage and the referee’s report that we are culpable. Take the fine and move on. Don’t make a name for yourself. Every team in the league will try it on just the same if they thinking they can get a rise out of us. All I saw was a team looking out for eachother. What were they meant to do? Stand and watch whilst their whole team dug into two of ours? The root cause of it was an incompetent official and it was catalysed by their player deciding to drive a man who was already on the ground into the turf and not let him get up. The FA/EFL have made their decision though; I hope I’m wrong and the club is absolved but I’m not holding my breath. Hopefully their lads will get a retrospective ban if it can be shown they did bite Shep and punch Vimal respectively. The fact those things haven’t been mentioned and no individual charges announced suggests they won’t be though. Could job it wasn’t Cameron McGeehan.
