I thought he had a very good game today. Seen he gets a lot of criticism on here but it shows he has the potential to improve under Hourihane, well played today Josh
Agreed. I thought both centre backs did well. Both nearly got caught a couple of times but held strong. Couple of cracking balls in behind too.
He has some, erm, moments, you can't argue with that. But even in games where he makes mistakes he does some pretty stunning stuff. He got loads of criticism for his performance at Wimbledon but for me, he wasn't the defender at fault. I think he maybe could have done better in a couple of situations, but I don't think they were actual mistakes. Meanwhile, a couple of his passes were immaculate and he got no credit for them. I'm not claiming he's been a great defender for us. He need to add some consistency to his game. But I do think some of the criticism he gets is not justified. Although I'm probably guilty of that too.
Picked him as a possible MOTM at half time but in fairness he was playing like a holding midfielder most of the game while Shepard minded the shop. But ye well played Josh..
Just imagine the vitriol on here if it was Josh with the horrific back pass to gift Huddersfield a goal. There are mistakes in every team in every game, yet some players seem to be singled out. MDG came on for a little while and also did nothing wrong. It was a great day for all Reds. The future looks brighter under Hourihane
Yep. Taylor is rapid so I was nervous when he picked the ball up and started running at him with it but it was a truly superb tackle.
Was smack across from it, superb and not what we have been used to watching our centre backs do over last 18 months. Well done Shep lad, but don’t try and over do it in possession mate and you will do fine this season.
Both central defenders were immense today.Ogbeta was steady and did his job but unfortunate regarding his under hit back pass.Honourable mention to Watson,I thought he was calmness personified. We've got a bloody good full back there.I wonder how soon we could lengthen his contract.
My man of the match. He gets asked to be a ball playing centre back. He never hides, he always wants the ball and today, and let's not forget against a few million quid of strikers, he bossed it defensively too.
I’ll have to see it back, but think he won the ball really well in the lead up to goal three. Or was it the disallowed one? He played well. Again.
