Herbie gave me the impression when he was here that he didn’t really want to be. He gave no message of thanks etc when he left and gives the impression of being a bit of a bellend I’d like to think I’m wrong (I’m sure you will tell me I am, which is great) but that’s very much the vibe he gave out. REDS.
It's inconsequential what I thought of him, or anyone really. I'm never going to try and change minds. I just wondered if I'd missed something really. I'm glad Luca and co got the better of him. That's all that really matters.
Iam just repeating what someone said yesterday after i asked why were they booing him,i couldn't understand it either.
Can't disagree with any of that, mate. I actually thought we were comfortably the better side at the point of going a goal up. We snuffed out the few forays they'd had going forward, but I thought a lot of the play was being done in their half of the pitch. I do agree that we got a slight rub of the green (for once) from the referee; he did give us quite a lot of those soft fouls which normally go against us. I guess it's the mark of a good side though when you're getting the luck. I mean, Birmingham set a points record last season with their 13 penalties or whatever it was.
yeah I know that mate - the point I was trying to make was the way he conducted himself very much gave the impression he didn’t want to be here. I think that’s a bit out of order. I hope in wrong , maybe he’s a good lad but anyway that’s why I reckon he got a poor reception. Didn’t he give a bizarre interview once pre match? Maybe against Bristol? Can’t recall.
Totally agree with this. I do think over the years we have been too ‘nice’ and ‘naive’ . We have seen so many so called ‘streetwise’ teams come and get those decisions. I don’t really like that style of play but you do tend to find the teams at the top are better at it. Conor’s influence maybe ? That was part of his game as a super competitive central midfielder
I agree with the vast majority of the sentiment in this thread. IMHO I think we looked comfortable throughout the entire game. Usually as a Barnsley supporter you expect a blip or us to go into panic mode but we didn’t at all. I really enjoyed the way we absolutely dominated the ball in the second half. When we did tap a toe on the gas we scored twice, albeit one disallowed. We never looked troubled in the slightest. Connell played the game in his slippers and as others have alluded to, I think Bland is an absolute diamond. He could become anything he wants to, providing he hits the target every now and again! Conversely, I’ve just listened to Lee Grant on the official Huddersfield channel. I don’t know who’s more deluded, him or the interviewer. Apparently there was only one team trying to win the game, which is a truly bizarre comment for a team that had no ball, one shot on target which was from a mistake and had to pick the ball out of the net four times. The goals we scored were lucky and they dominated. I must have been watching a different game.
https://downatthemac.proboards.com/post/3550804/thread Agree with your every word, but it doesn't stop some posting delusional stuff like they are high or drunk.
I think that was because plenty of our fans were horrible towards him in his last couple of months with us. There seemed to be a weird view amongst a vocal minority that we were losing games because Kane, Williams, Cadden & Cole were all out of contract & had stopped trying.
To be honest, my head was elsewhere that last year at the club. So perhaps I missed whatever it was that went off. I’m not going to argue the toss, I just asked the question and you and others explained why.
Agree with pretty much all of that. Kane one is weird. He was a proper grafter for us & I can’t ever remember him missing games injured.
Kane was bang average for us. For a guy who got picked alot he didn't score many goals or get many assists. There is a reason he's had to make do with another club in the same league and their fans don't rate him either. It wasn't a good look for him to not do a farewell social media posts like the others.
Herbie gave some very strange interviews and gave the impression he didn’t want to be at Barnsley but his general play for us was ok . Yesterday I thought after a fantastic first half they came out as if they had been handing a spliff round at half time and let Udders put us under pressure , fortunately they picked it up
Re Kane, he was a maungy twàt who gave the impression he'd rather be anywhere else. I was glad he left and can understand him getting a poor reception, albeit I'm not a booer, I prefer just to ignore.
Don’t they? I only know two that I work with & they both rate him. Apparently their two bad runs last season coincided with him being injured
