I am hoping we sign right sided centre half with experience, also striker( McAtee do for me).Outgoings, I think we need to cash in if possible on Russell, good player but if one has to go then it’s him for me.
If nobody signs but we don't lose anyone then I'd be happy. If we could get cash + Mads for Phillips and signed McAtee I'd be reasonably happy as well. If we lose DKD I'd call it a bad window. Wouldn't mind them selling Russell if we were able to get a decent price, and got a CB and CF on permanent deals but I don't think it's likely. My actual prediction is that we keep everybody and get a couple of loans.
A CB & Striker, someone to push McGoldrick, not just back up, but someone to claim the number 1 spot.
We need another striker. I think Russell will leave, although I'll be sorry to see him go. If we can shift Kelechi, maybe with Kelly in, send Yogi out on loan, maybe the wage bill would stretch to another forward. Wouldn't be averse to a central defender obvs but we have bodies there (Earl, Shep, MDG, Barrett) even if the quality falls a bit short for a promotion push. Any injuries up top, though and we're rubber ducked.
Wouldn't be against DKD being sold at good money, on the proviso we get in two strikers & there's a relatively positive story to it IE 'look, we sold him for big cash but we've invested a million quid in this one to replace him'. If there's no outgoings, an experienced centre half as back up/rotation & a striker is minimum imho.
Excellent. So when Connell, Phillips and DKD are sold today without replacement and the news comes out that McGoldrick actually suffered a broken neck from that challenge by the Huddersfield keeper, I'll look forward to your measured response!
If all this happens what do you want to do about it? March up Grove Street armed with pitch forks? BTW - you forgot Russell.
We need to get closer to breakeven. That was the priority for this window and to start rebalancing the squad. If we fail to trim down the bloated midfield and generate profits to offset large losses, the window will have been a failure.
Perfect world? 2 Centre halves as I don’t think MDG or Earl are up to it A striker Nobody except Nwakali leaves realistically? An experienced CH, even if on loan a la Bobby Thomas A striker Only 1 of DKD/Phillips/Russell/Connell to leave, and if 1 does we are all saying how we got a great deal like we were for Kitching
Not to lose anyone & to sign a new forward to give us the depth we need. Like others I wouldn’t mind another centre back but I think it’s unlikely given how much money the club is losing & how many we already have at the club.
Utopia: Sell one 'crown jewel', replace with CB, forward and one surprise 'box office' Good: A CB and a forward. Keep the crown jewels. Well, ok then: A CB and forward, but sell a crown jewel. Meh: Crack on with what we got Nooooooooooo: Sell someone, don't get anyone in. That's me done: Clem comes back.
I'd have added that you only have ONE wish to make it interesting. For me, a right-footed centre-back. We've got more than enough goals in the side to manage without the out & out striker we've supposedly been missing. RCB is the one area we desperately need experience.
