Madness. I don’t understand why there’s no outcry from everyone.

The position that gets you promoted and we have only 2x strikers.

Every other season we’ve had at least 3 or 4 to cover that position

In league one last season we had

    Watters
    Rodrigues
    Humphrey’s
    DKD

    23/24
    Cole
    McAtee
    Cosgrove
    Watters

    22/23
    Cole
    Norwood
    Tedic
    Watters
    Shaw

Yes, you could say the cover wasn’t good enough in those seasons. That’s not my point. The point is that we felt it was adequate to go into the season with cover in that area. This season we have the chance to address this with “good” cover but instead, we’ve not addressed it at all.

I really hope I’m wrong but this could cost us once injuries kick in. Crazy to not address it. Absolutely woeful yet again from them at the top. Just when you thought the window was a good one they still manage to f**k it up.

I’ll take it back if they sign a free agent, but even then, that’s a panic buy.

In all of those seasons you’ve quoted only 2 of the players from each year were up to being good enough. So the same as this year.

Correct, hence the lacing up a boot comment.

There is no cover tho pal.

They’ve done really well keeping the top players and adding some quality in other areas.

Let themselves down on deadline day.

Total over reaction. We have goals all over the front and mid, without a “Real” No. 9. I’d have liked a big battering ram, but I think we’ll be OK.

McGoldrick, DKD, Farrell, then emergency of Russell, Jalo and Cleary.
We only play with one striker.

Id rather give young ones a go rather than sign another Cosgrove or Clem.

Do you know why there’s no outcry?

The team are 4th in the division. Winning glosses over most issues for many.

If results go south over the autumn, folk will change their tune don’t you worry. :D

Who are the two strikers? Have we signed someone?

I'd rather have no options from the bench than wasting a wage on Cosgrove, Watters, Tedic and Shaw.

I don’t think it is an overreaction mate.

    This side could do something.

There’s cover in all areas. If we had 3x decent strikers I’d have had us for top 6.

One injury to either DKD or Didzy and we are in trouble.

I’ll address this post at Xmas once the season has kicked in and happily admit I was wrong if proven otherwise.

    Andy…..it’s crazy.

The fact we have 2x fantastic options glosses over it for people. Before Didzy was signed, if fans were told at the beginning of the window we’d only have DKD and one more then I’m pretty certain the board would be in meltdown.

    Well that has happened.

All it takes is an injury or one of them to drop off form and it’ll be “why didn’t we sign someone in Summer”.

I think my post may be a bit misinterpreted.

The window has been a good one. It could have been a great one.

I’m annoyed because I know at some point this season we will need that extra striker whether that’s an injury, lack of form or just another option to throw on in a game that’s not going our way.

Jon Russell could do a job up top as a stop gap so could Cleary its a shame Mcatee didn't come off but there's always the January window. Good psychology by the club though to start a twitter rumour that Phillips was off to Luton then get the player to say he isn't this morning so that we don't mind so much that they haven't signed a striker. :D:D:D

When your using Watters, Rodrigues Cosgrove, Shaw and Tedic as the base of your argument it's going to fall down pretty quickly

I don’t disagree that we’re short in numbers up front and I’d loved to have got another in. But you can’t use Sam Cosgrove as an example of having options. I would rather we play the kit man up front than him and the squad is infinitely better just by his absence from it. Same applies to Rodriguez as well.

I’m not overly concerned, mainly because we only play with one up front.

I’m happy enough with Didzy and Davis for now, and with Vickers, Cleary, and Farrell able to step in if needed.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d have liked another option, but I think this is just where we’re at financially at the moment.

If "Didzy" got injured, DKD would play there and Cleary or Farrugia would play on the wing

I share your frustration on not getting another forward through the door. I imagine Conor and co will be of the same mindset too.

But I’m happy with the squad when all are fit and really do think there’s a potential promotion tilt if all stars align.

Even though it’s dictated by a good start, I’m happy that the BBS isn’t kicking off at the end of a window. Fingers crossed we remain injury free until January and keep on earning two points per game.

Give up, I was mearly suggesting we had options.

We had a chance to have 3x good options this summer and really kick on.

Our manager even said he wanted a striker.

    They’ve let him down.

We have no strikers at all. Not two. None.

Neither McGoldrick nor DKD are nines let’s be honest. Doesn’t mean it can’t work - but we don’t have an out and out centre forward.

I’m pleasantly surprised we appear to have sold nobody - though to be honest perhaps a little concerned as to what that means for the longer term finances of the club and whether it is a risk.

When you look at Woodrow going to Wycombe and in particular Cole to Port Vale - on a free - you do have to wonder if we’d have been better to sacrifice from the squad one of DKD, Phillips or Russell in order to fund wages for an out and out centre forward.

I’d also have preferred a centre back that had made more than twelve professional appearances and hadn’t spent 95% of the last two seasons out with serious knee injuries. It’s hard to think the lad is going to improve the starting eleven and maybe that isn’t why he’s here - though he could be a revelation as a right sided centre back I guess and there’s a reason he’s only on loan.
