I’m not so sure but it’s not the best of times for me to argue this, in general I took her to be on our side, having a bit of brass doesn’t stop her wanting those who need it most to be helped. Obviously she absolutely had to set an example. Again I can see this opinion doesn’t hold much water today and my greater point was those who are celebrating should be very careful.
Just been perusing the BBC News website like you do when you're bored and I couldn't help but notice Sir Keir Starmer's shocking handwriting in his letter to Angela Rayner.
Fuhrer Farage stating Rayner dodged £40k of council tax. Not one for detail is he? Maybe he didn't want to say stamp duty given the amount he's dodged with his numerous house purchases.
At least he took the trouble to write the letter himself. I don't recall any former PM or party leader doing this in the past.
She worked her way up from.teenage mother on a council estate to deputy PM. An MPs Salary is 90k plus whatever she got for being housing secretary. That puts her comfortably in the bracket to afford the deposit and mortgage on an £800k property while already owning a previous property (with her partner). Are you suggesting she could only maintain her working class connection by turning down that income and working for less? She had to stand down and own her mistake, but she has far more in common with most people who live in this country than at least 95% of the house of commons
And, he said in 2024 he "felt more in touch with the Davos lot (dodgy bunch-my words) than Westminster"--he needs to go too. See "The Agenda" Optima Films on YouTube and you'll never be able to forget what you've watched.
Her actions this week prove the contrary though, don’t they? I’d wager she’s negligent more than knowingly robbing - but either way - she’s held herself accountable on further advice. Removed herself from position. That is a gazillion times more than previous ministers have done in recent years.
It is a bit scrawly isn’t it! I’m not one to talk, my handwriting is poor too - but you have to think he missed his calling - yes he’s a lawyer but with writing like that he should be a gp writing prescriptions!
You are right working class should not be allowed to have such amounts of money, especially them as common as muck.
Awaiting the lefty backlash and whataboutery throwing allegations around about any political opposition. Well suppose it's already started looking at some media outlets like the guardian, bbc.
And now the enquiry has found she's in the wrong she's got the flick, which is exactly what should happen...lets see the next Tory/ Reform mob follow suit or will they take the Boris route and ignore the " Right thing to do" and just carry on regardless..
