£8k / week over 15 month - no transfer fee either, OK £8k probably smashes our wage structure assuming 4/5k is highest earner at moment but didnt we pay £300k for muller, I certainly think steele is worth £300k, if not more and when you take off the fee its only like paying steele £3384 a week which I am sure is well in line with our budget. This cant be about money as I think we would be getting a bargain. (chinny) (chinny)
Who says he is on 8 grand????? They have said its nowt to do with wages? Someone has plucked this figure out of the air and everyone has believed it! There's something going on that we don't know, 90% sure this time tomorrow he will be back with us...whether that's on loan or pemanent. I doubt he will have physically been "sent back" to WBA either, he'll still be knocking around somewhere local.
wage structure!!! Lets say he is on 8K, then Muller says hang on, I'm first choice, I want 8K, Howard says I'm captain and prem clubs love me, I want 10K... so on and so on. This deal isn't worth 520K over 15 months, it could potentially be worth millions and another stint in admin. Thanks Luke for your efforts, if it wasn't for you at Anfield this wouldn't even be an issue, but Shep...stay away please!
Exactly Praying for Steele's sake that this gets sorted. That lad deserves to play at Wembley. His story has been an integral part of our cup run.
And he's better than Muller.

Dead right There are players at the club that have clauses in their contracts which state that they have parity with the highest earner at the club. So its not just an extra £8000.
are but..... if we sign him who says he needs to be on 8k per week? Would he not accept 4k per week and the memory/expereince of two wembly appearances, obvoiusly when his cureent deal expires? The sticking point then must just be the period between now and when he becomes a permanant reds player....ie when he is still on loan and contractually entitled to 8k per week. tricky one......
Hang on.... He was signed for the FA Cup and the lad has done well at Anfield, pulled of a couple of saves at Chelsea however to break the bank for a goalkeeper... He has fitted in and looks the part in the team but did you ever expect Sheppard to agree to paying 8K a week for a Goalkeeper? I think back to last season and the Chopra Transfer to Cardiff? Would have cost the club nothing?? Davey has made some good signings and here's hoping we get do get someone who will step up and have a barn stormer at Wembley!!!
Signing on fee? Why don't we offer him say £4k a week and give him a big signing on fee? That way he's not the highest paid player, yet he'll still get his money.
The chopra story is clearly untrue Ritchie didn't want to sign anybody. Not even Wallwork who he did sign.
he's contractually entitled to 8K a week for the next 15 months, if that's his current deal. He's not going to come to us a half his wages. He could stay put at WBA and pull in double what we're prepared to give him. Then move somewhere for 4K a week.
RE: Signing on fee? Then when Howards and Mullers contract is up we have to significantly up the anti if we want them stay, either by giving them a lump sum or up their wages. Agents certainly aren't daft. If he signs, every agent will be into the club wanting to add bonuses into contracts and so on. It just puts us in a difficult position. However you pay the lad it stills says that we value him more than another player and thats a slippy slope.
