David “Bumble”Lloyd has retired from Sky, I for one will miss his commentary, funny and witty and unlike some of the boring commentators we are left with. A little bit like what happened with the Gillette soccer Saturday panel when they went.
Sad day, love listening to Bumble , would love to attend a function where he was doing his after dinner routine , I imagine he would be hilarious , he is a character & sadly there are not enough characters within the commentary box
More time for them because they had actually been there and done it. Now we're left with failures commentating on how bad failures are doing.
I wouldn't call Atherton, Hussain and Butcher failures. Key, Ward and Knight on the other hand (less so in ODIs in Knight's case). Wouldn't be surprised to see Cook added to the Sky team in the summer.
That is very sad news. Bumble is an absolute legend. I'm afraid we'll not see his like again as the world we live in these days doesn't encourage such characters.....
Went on a stag do a few years ago to that London Village and met him and a group of lads in the West End and both groups ended up on a night out together, found him surprisingly quite funny TBF.
He knew his stuff, was willing to admit when he didn't and I loved when he went off at a tangent. I suppose everyone has to retire eventually, but he will be missed.
Think his days were numbered when he got caught up in the Rafiq story and had to say sorry. Cricket is full of great commentators around the world that Sky can bring in like Ian Bishop and Danny Morrison.
Great shame...would love to have seen him and Kerry O Keef (skull) on the same show...pure comedy gold.
He said club cricketers of Asian background didn't spend any money over the bar at local clubs during or after a match.
Sky need to go get the Kiwi version of Bumble so the commentary box has someone around who's a laugh.
Love Bumble, so many fun stories, from the guy who nicked his lawnmower to his impersonations and banter with the late Bob Willis. Really sad to see him go, I can only assume without reading up on it that Sky have given him the option to leave or perhaps they would have sacked him give the recent allegations and private messages that came to light. Happy retirement Bumble, it won't be the same without you.
