    Why blame Pierce?

Unlike Spain, Italy and even Norway along with every other team. They are allowed to pick players from there senior team in under 21 comps.

Why not blame Wekbeck or Oxlaid Chamberlain?

because he is ****ing rubbish has been involved with this team and GB olympic team and all have been *****. still got 'so called' good players. Chelsea reckon Chalabah is worth 20 million, but they are in dream land. Zaha 15 million was it, henderson 14 million, neither are worth anymore than 2-3 million

A player is only worth what someone is willing to pay, so Zaha is worth 15 million because someones paid it.

No ones paid 20 million for Chabolah so he isnt worth that, his club may value him at that but if someone offers 1 million thats what they think hes worth.

So it's Pearce's fault Zaha cost Man Utd £15m?

In all fairness its not Pearce's fault, id take the job if the FA offered me it. Hes never done anything and thats the problem, the youth are being led by someone with no management nous. Thats just the beginning of the issues.

And Zaha has been struggling with injury since the play off final, probably shouldn't have played today.

But an England with Oxlaid-Chamberlain, Phil Jones, Welbeck would have been different.

True. Although you have to admit he's got a point about the players in question never being worth the amount that was paid for them!

I think that says more about our senior National team actually.
A striker (wellbeck) who scored 2 goals all season is deemed good enough to play for the seniors.
A centre back (Jones) who when he gets a game for Utd is deemed not good enough for centre back and is cover for defensive midfield.

Wellbeck, jones, wilshere, chamberlain et al should be tasting tournament football this summer for the u21's. The size of their ego's are in no way matched by their talent. It is their choce to play or not after all. I'd say compare them to Germany's youngsters who feature in the first team, but there is simply no comparison.

A bit harsh. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain comes across as an extremely grounded young man, not to mention very bright and articulate. We don't have any better than him right now, hence why he's getting in the full side. As for Welbeck, yes he's limited as an international centre forward, but as far as effort and endeavour goes, he's never let England down. If he's picked, all he can do is play to the best of his ability, which in my opinion he has always done. Whether that is good enough for the world stage is a different matter entirely.

These are players eligible to Germany: Ter Stegen, Schürrle, Draxler, Kroos, Gündoğan, Götze. None of them in the squad. But Germany still competed against a strong Holland side by playing some good football and gave a young side a good grounding. Italy could have selected El Shawary and Balotelli, but have been brilliant so far in the tournament.

At the least you've got to compete. England just have no discernible game plan or style of play that doesn't involve trying to nick a goal from set pieces and keep it tight. It worked once for Greece, but it's a gameplan that gets you to tournaments by winning ***** groups, not wins them or makes them exciting to watch.

Spot on. Lack of a good footballing culture and lack of talent is our issue. Germany have an absolute production line atm, world force for the next 10-20 years.

I stated their ego as every single player available to pearce can be called up, whether or not they have been picked for the national side before. Each and everyone of the current crop not there that is in the seniors has been asked to play and turned it down (or pearce has been told not to ask them).

If Hodgson has decided that Wilshere, Chamberlain, Jones, Walker, Wellbeck, Cleverley etc is good enough for a senior tournament then he'll find the truth out on the plane home in the summer on 2014 after a three game stint in Brazil

FTR hes constantly injured and so its a bit harsh digging him out for this one, as for the rest agreed.
