In protest at ticket price. Found this, thought it was interesting. Especially the bit about Alfreton Town and how much it costs to watch them in comparison to Bundesliga matches. http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/s-time-fair-play-turnstiles/story-16994960-detail/story.html
Nowt to do with ticket prices but l once went to a Lazio v Parma game at the Olympic stadium it was the first game after that Lazio fan was killed by the coppers and the Ultra's were doing a protest. I went into the stadium and there were less than 10,000 there, not one body behind the goal in the Curva Sud and 25 Palma fans holding some kind of Justice flag. When the scoreboard hit 15 mins around 10,000 Ultra's that had been waiting outside the ground flooded in behind the net, banners of the fan and a picture of him went up on the videoboard. The atmosphere went mental, after 15 mins they turned their backs on the game and walked out of the ground, every single one of them. They spent the rest of the afternoon lobbing bricks at the coppers. Moral of the story is those foreigners have some weird ways of protesting.
Nobody in Barnsley would pay in for 15 mins of footy and walk out "What's tha mean were gunna East Dene, in ten mins wharabart match?"
They threatened to boycott their derby match at Schalke a couple of years ago because the prices were over €20!
At least 1000 fans walk out of oakwell while the game is still on, every single game. 5 minutes before the end. £28 to get in, the game is entering statistically the most exciting period of play and people **** off... bizarre!
Re: At least 1000 fans walk out of oakwell while the game is still on, every single g Been watching the Bundesliga highlights on ITV4 and German football looks fantastic with all the stadiums having full terraces and great atmospheres, it's like going back in time. This is what English football would be like without Hillsborough/The Premier League/Sky/Greed. Make me want to move to Germany.
I used to watch Borussia Monchengladbach in the early 1990s while stationed quite close to there. It was always entertaining watching Bundesliga football and I paid the ridiculously low price of about £2.50 to get in. Yes, TWO pounds fifty!! The ground was invariably pretty full, as were the other grounds in the league. Still the same of course, as witnessed on the highlights programme shown on ESPN and ITV4. It's a top quality product at a VERY reasonable price. Why can't the English leagues learn from the Germans? Price it right and they will come...... Too simple really, isn't it? The fact that Dortmund fans protested at having to pay about £15 to watch a match speaks volumes.
Not sure you can charge that much for a league that just sell it's best players apart from one team. It's very similar to French league. When these players come over you see that there not even that good but because the leagues weak then its ok. Raul went there after he wasn't any good, RVN did same. Boateng, looked good over there, come to Manchester city and looked well below average. And Muller getting top keeper award, lol. He wasn't even in top 15 in England. How can someone with large problems get that award?
RVN? Erm summat Van summat, Robin Van....nope not him, Whats that Spurs kid? Van der Vaart, Rafael? RVDV, nope not him. Wharabart that player we had? Laurens Ten... nope not him. Go on then Hemsy giz a clue.
