Bougherras very highly rated and from what I gather from mates, he's a class act. Not surprised they haven't sold.
Very unlikely would like to see Barnsley making proper bids for the people but I just don't think we'll take the risk. Would rather sign players from the lower leagues or premiership youngsters. Decent, pretty experienced player? Dunt be daft ff
To be fair ... ... if Charlton get him for less than £2m then they've got a bargain. Possibly the best player I've seen in this league all season. He's the kind of centre half we should've been looking at in the summer. Unfortunately the £300k he cost from Crewe would've been too much ... so we looked at his mate, Foster, who was on a free - but went to the mighty Burnley instead ... to play out of position. Football really is **** on a stick.
Aye. First time I saw him, in a poor Crewe team, I knew he was class. Makes daft mistakes, 'cos he's only an egg ... but he's got real class. Reminds me of Rio when he strides out with the ball. £300k. Three hundred thousand pounds sterling. As I said ages ago - at Hillsboro he was their best defender, midfielder & attacker. I think he's even better than Paul Reid (insert new sarcasm emoticon here).
Nope. Bougherra's agent asked for a £1m release clause. It seems like Wednesday fiddled about with the clause to make it so they don't have to accept the offer. Maybe we should've employed the same guy to write McIndoe's contract? £2m. And it's still a steal.
You are? I think the Board & Management are. Gord's plan was to stay in League One last season. This season should've been our Championship push. When we go down - we will actually be behind Gord's schedule. You have to grasp these opportunities, they don't come along too often. We are letting it slip away without really having a pop at it. 5k at Oakwell next season.
RE: You are? We can't seem to manage success. The Prem season was pissed away by Wilson not strengthening defensively and buying players that in the main weren't up to the task.

This season has been a repeat. How we allowed Ritchie to go so far into the season without adding quality to the squad is beyond me.

just what i was thinking don't know the ins and outs of it but it sounds as the bougherras agent didn't read through the contract properly, still - even with a £1.3 million release clause - it would be a good bit of business. I completely understand us inserting a release clause into McIndoes contract - but £250,000 seems a little on the cheap side to me for a player who obviously had the talent to make it inthis league. He's probably worth £750,000 to a million quid now.
I'll tell you what does my head in ... ... Bougherra's agent was of the understanding that the clause was initiated if a club offered £1m above what Wednesday paid for him. Wednesday paid £300k. Magically - Charlton offer exactly £1.3m. What a coincidence. Same type of coincidence that probably saw Wolves offer the exact amount in McIndoes contract. Football agents should all be loved to within an inch of their lives. Then finished off by Omar when they're not expecting it.
