I said the same at the game yesterday. Townsend catches it and can't release the ball because every one of our players to a man are still in the penalty area. Negative boring tactic.
What's wrong with leaving a player or two on the half way line so you can release the ball quickly. There is no logic at all in bringing every player back.
Nothing. Like wise if you have speed in yourself what wrong with drawing the opposition forward and exploiting the space
It's one of things in modern football tactics that annoys me most. If we leave 2, maybe even 3, forward it means the opposition would leave 3 or even 4 back. This in turn clears the box a bit so your keeper has more chance of coming for the ball, or less congestion for the CBs to attack the ball. Then there's chance to get it forward quickly. You can argue there's more risk as there's not as many defenders if the ball does drop in the box but there'd be a man over still as the opposition would have left the extra man covering our players on the halfway line. Seems simple to me.
Whilst I'm generally an optimistic guy, this pissed me off majorly yesterday. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Maybe he is being told not to sprint up the pitch and we are being told to slow it down when the ball is caught by the keeper. Even when we have players up the pitch it is very rare lately to see the ball released early
