I thought it looked a hell of a lot more than that too. Then again, we got there 15mins late and the woman said she had no tickets left so let us pay concession price and got in with no ticket. I guess we didn't count towards figures then, and we weren't the only ones she said that too!
2000 from Wigan? Awful turn out for first game of season after winning FA Cup. They have a LOT to thank Dave Whelan for, as they'd be ****** without him.
Loads walked out after third goal went in so I suspect a few may not be back, not unless we improve significantly.
Yes I heard that - what's their allocation then? - Is the "black band" stuck 2/3rds of the way across the South Stand???
I don't think the club were expecting that either. They ran out of tickets in the West Stand Lower so we didn't get a stub for the Cup run. Did they count tickets sold or the number passing through the turnstiles?
Barnsley v Wigan - 13,096 Burnley v Bolton - 12,919 Millwall v Yeovil - 12,404 Bournmouth v Charlton - 10108 Doncaster v Blackpool - 9002 We are massive
I think we may have missed out on valuable finance. If Wigan sold out there allocation - why was half the North stand empty? I hope Ben Mansfield learns from this!
Disappointing thing about the game is that there were probably a thousand "now and againers" turned up to this one and won't be going out of their way to pay another 20-odd quid in the near future.
8,300 home fans turned up for the first home match vs. Middlesbrough last season so to have 10,700 home fans turn up yesterday was a big improvement. Shame the performance on the pitch wasn't as half as good as that Middlesbrough game!
