I know it's been mentioned many times but that's fantastic support Just hope we can get the 3 points Have a great Christmas everyone You redsss Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Must be preparing to get a bigger section open because doubt they would have put on POTD if they could only give less than 400 for it.
Have to say our away support has been pretty amazing this season all things considering, wonder what our numbers would be if we were actually any good!
We'll be averaging over 1,000 again after Saturday. I know we have a lot of local games but that's still some support considering the crap we've had to put up with for the last decade. I'd only back the Blunts and Coventry to take more than us most places if we were sniffing around the top 6.
We are 15 years into the century and only had three good seasons so far. 2000, 2005 and 2008. When you consider that we have bloody marvelous support I agree
Over the last few years I've been amazed at the number of young fans I've met through various things that are obsessed with the club - ie folk who were in nappies when we were in the Prem and can't really have experienced any kind of 'good times' seeing as we've not really done anything since then. Respect to them as I don't think I'd have been a BFC fan if I was born in the late 90's...when I first started going to Oakwell regularly we were a decent side to watch in Div 2/Div 1, started to redevelop the ground and before I could get disillusioned we were promoted to the Prem. The next decade was probably even more eventful...it's been sh*t since then, and that's all a lot of these kids have really known!
I was born in the early 90s but only really became of aware of BFC after we were relegated from the Prem, first game was vs Portsmouth in late 98. Can remember us losing the play off final to Ipswich but remember nothing of the season before it. So really I've only seen us have one season where we've not been toss for the most part Still, I live in hope like the rest of the fans my age that one day I'll get to see us win promotion again. Or just have a season where we win more than we lose.
I agree with you. If I was a kid today I don't know how i'd get into watching Barnsley as much as the early 90s. Helped my first ever game was a victory 2-0 against Ipswich in the FA Cup. Also helped being better than Huddersfield all through school. Quite happy as a mid table division two side. We've never properly recovered from our one season in the premiership, but i'm still glad we had it and hope to see us there again one day. Daily Mail yesterday had a story on a billionaire trying to buy an English football club as Munich 1860 won't give him as much control as he wants. We should be on the blower to him. Best off going into Huddersfield town centre to avoid that way I reckon. Similar way to going to Rochdale away.
My youngens (teenagers) like the build up to the game , going for drinks before meeting mates etc but as soon as the match starts I can see them bored rigid and itching to go. Becoming more and more difficult to keep them interested .
