    OK, thanks.

    But who calculates the value of the player that's given as part exchange?

    £25m in cash pluss a player for £5m that is really worth £10.

    We lose £750,000 :-(

    That will be the benefit of more clubs making bids for him. If Chelsea and Man City make £34m bids, whereas Man United make a cash plus player bid that is accepted, it would be reasonable to assume that Everton and Man United's value of the player is £34m less whatever cash they pay.

    Its not VAT exempt. It's how VAT works. You pay VAT on the things you buy for your business (Input VAT) and you charge VAT on things you sell (Output VAT)

    If you generate more output VAT than Input VAT you owe the difference to HMRC and vice versa

    Exactly. If they do a deal of cash plus Evans what's to stop Everton coming to a deal with Man United to purposely underestimate the value of Evans so United pay less hard cash and Everton less money to us so both them clubs have a win/win situation and we lose out.
