Personally i hope that we don't achieve promotion to the championship because we are simply nowhere near good enough for the standard required to do ourselves any justice in the divison.
It's a fact, we can't compete with the majority of championship sides. We are a league one side at best and the quicker people realise that the better.
Phenominal stupidity! We're a league one team until we get promotion! Yours is the mentality of the directors at Barnsley in my youth when we were in the old 4th division most of the time. Whenever we looked like going up they'd sell our best players. The idea was that we wouldn't be good enough to stay up and crowds would be lower.(banghead) (banghead) (banghead) (banghead) (banghead) (banghead) I don't think you are correct anyway. Quite a number of our present squad would do OK in the Championship.
OK Hassell, Reid, McPhail, Hayes and Nardiello (the last one is possibly a mickey-take). That doesn't mean that I don't think others could do OK - but you only asked for a nucleus. (Was going to go for a "spine" of Flinders, Kay, Wroe and Nardiello)
RE: OK Your "spine" can't command a regular place in a poor League 1 side. Hassel is not quick enough or aware enough at fullback and not big enough at CH. McPhail will be a lazy git where ever he plays. Hayes hasn't yet proved that he can put in consistent performances at this level, never mind in a higher division. You are dreaming!!
RE: and im sure you didnt think that in 1997 when we went up mate perhaps he/she didn't but he/she should have 'cos you were crap . I'm sure the Blades will be more successful after our promotion this season. 2005/2006 Blades promotion season
