Thanks to 1575 yesterday I was able to hear the new theme tune and some of the announcements that others around me in the East Stand had no hope of catching. This is cos it was feeding down your reporters microphones and reaching me via the radio. Top commentary too, thanks. And before anyone says "why" - i just like listening to the commentary whilst watching the game.
Cheers, nice to know we're appreciated, or least some of our crew! Do you listen as you leave the ground? We will usually have player interviews soon after the final whistle for most games - I spoke to Paul Hayes yesterday. Not many stations interview the players...
He said he was delighted to score on his debut as you'd expect, and that he was really looking forward to going back to Scunny, but expects stick from fans and a few rough tackles. Also expected Swindon to be a bottom half side, and said Nardi never misses pens in training so he was surprised but that he didn't think it's affect him. Oh he also said the referee got loads of things wrong, but he said he understands it's their first game of the season too. It makes no difference with Mr Leake though from past experience I can assure him!
He was crap all game, let loads of their players off with rough challenges and booked Carbon for looking clumsy. The main thing he got wrong was not sending O'Hanlon off for bringing Hayes down. Clean through, last man pulls him back - that's a straight red card without argument.
Also the big lad at the back (Ifil) i think thought he should have walked for a number of tackles in the second half ,who by the way i thought was a good player at the back for them.
Not sending off Thorpe for his behaviour at the end - even Andy King has said he was lucky not to go! - or the two elbows by Ifil that he saw but chose to ignore.
It wasn't just me and our other boys who couldn't believe what Ifil got away with then, good! He did play pretty well though yes.
I believe that the radius is a few miles... I know people who live 3 or 4 miles away who can get it, but because the town is hilly it doesn't get everywhere as it were. We are also available online of course when it works!
bllody hell and i went to the game as well, can,t disagree there but it was a penalty after seeing it on the box!
I can usually pick it up with a decent signal by the time I'm driving through Cudworth. So that's about 4 miles, as you said. My the time I'm in Brieley I can get a decent signal. On a good day I can pick it up in South Elmsall, although it's a bit crackly from there.
Yes it probably was a penalty, I never said it wasn't, though it was tough on Robbie. Referees who don't know the rules are what p!ss me off - last man bringing someone down equals red card, not a hard one to follow that is it? (doh) (chinny)
Yes I do listen as I leave the ground. All the way to the car when I switch over to the radio on the way home. I think the commentary is excellent and I like to hear if your thoughts concur with mine. Also, being trained reporters, you pick up much more than me and tell me what I miss. Sometimes you miss things that I see that are much closer to me and I wanna shout across and tell you - "no - this is what happened". Seriously it is well worth listening to, down to earth and unpretentious. I like the pitch side reports Journo, but where are you when you do 'em? I scoured the dugout area when you were talking but couldn't spot you. At one time, if Radio Sheff were covering our games I always listened to them, but not any more. S'funny, but to me the commentary is a must. It's like putting on a jacket, I don't feel complete without it.
