Ticket sales soar to 16,000 Ticket sales for Barnsley's big play-off final day in Cardiff were today soaring towards 16,000. Match tickets for the Reds v Swansea City on Saturday went on sale to the general public yesterday. The club were to begin selling tickets to fans in general today but opened the box office and turnstiles yesterday because season-ticket-holders had snapped up most of their allocation before the weekend. A statement from the club said: "At this time many of the higher priced tickets have been sold due in part to the limited number in the area designated for Barnsley fans. "However we are confident that those people who wish to support the club on May 27 will be able to do so." There are still plenty of tickets left, the club confirmed. They were given 29,000 tickets to the Millennium Stadium. They range in price from £52 to £22. Right-back Neil Austin is making a late bid to join the squad who will travel to Wales after training on Thursday. Austin tore his hamstring a month ago but trained with the rest of the players on Saturday. The man in the middle for Barnsley's play-off final will be Lee Mason, from Lancashire. Mason is a Premiership ref who has handled Barnsley twice this season. He took charge of the League One 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest last September and officiated as Walsall knocked Andy Ritchie's team 2-0 in an FA Cup third round replay in January. In 36 games this campaign Mason has made 88 cautions but sent only three players off. He booked Jacob Burns, Matt Carbon and Antony Kay in the victory over Forest. Burns has left the club for Poland and Carbon has been ruled out of Saturday's final injured.
Where did they get that number from? Just curious like as they have rehashed statements from the official website and we have got various numbers from different people - wonder if that is the true figure or just a guess?
weve already got that and theres all this week to get tickets so it should be a very respectable/good turnout. Enough to outsing the Welsh puffs anyway.
RE: weve already got that Christ, its gonna be Bread of Heaven from 20k plus Harry Secombe Duckpond wannabes. There'll be no bugger left in the valleys.
