I keep telling myself not to come in here when we lose. However I do because football is all about opinion and this board reflects not only our different opinions but also the fact that we all care about the club. I've not been surprised at the analysis, comments, moans and groans on here since yesterday. It was so disappointing. I agree with some that Crewe must be one of the worst sides to have visited in years and years. We should have won that game by 5 or 6. They were that poor. I went to Blackpool and Donny and we should have won those games too. 8 points gone missing. 8 points! But some need to be careful what they wish for. The argument has and will rage about Lees appointment but I'm firmly in the "let him build" camp as I know quite a few others are. The argument to get rid is both premature and does nothing other than put into turmoil again. I'm with RR when he says it would be the definition of madness. I'm with Whitey when he says that this board would be a whole different place had we stuck our chances away yesterday. I'm rambling. The real point of this post is to say that I go to the match and sit with two friends. We realised yesterday that we have 165 years of combined BFC watching experience between the three of us. One of us is possibly too positive, one of us moans like hell about everything (yesterday he was even moaning about Glavins defensive qualities; that is.......he had none; zero). The third is always objective and more considered. Nothing unique about that other than we represent a broad perspective with lots of watching behind us. Some fantastic memories obviously. I'm not one for looking back overly but there's one thing for sure, and we all agreed, that what we have at the club now in terms of the management team and talented footballers is in no way as bad as some of the stuff we've seen over the years. I'm calling for perspective. That's all. We came to the conclusion that we've all seen enough to convince us that we can achieve something with this manager. Many will disagree but give him time to build. Painful as it will be at times he needs the time to build.
I don't want the manager sacked. We need to stick with someone and he's in the chair so it has to be him. Someone just needs a quiet word in his ear and ask him the question whether he thinks the system he is employing with the personnel he has got is looking like being successful. If he wants to play the current system he needs to bite the bullet, take the flak and replace Winnall with Smith. If you are trying to execute a plan in any walk of life you need to go for it fully to have any chance of success.
I've not seen anything from Lee Jay that makes me feel he will be a success YET. Still stratching my head as to the reason we chose him in the 1st place unless what was stated about his agent in his playing days bears any truth.
Managers are judged on results and we have lost 2 games on the trot to bottom 4 teams It's just not happening Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Our board were blinded by the pseudo spin and now we're stuck with a manager who is looking very unlikely to make any progress with us. The budget and squad he has at his disposal means he should be aiming for the top two with the top six being a consolation.
Couldn't agree more. I like LJ as a person. I think he will make a good manager. He isn't one yet. With the quality of players we have, we should be top 3 (you could say the same about Chelsea this season I suppose) I don't think its negative but I don't like the 1 up front tactic we play with players who cant play that role (square pegs in round holes) and I wish he would change it. Maybe he will. But what I dislike even more is the constant sacking of managers every season once we lose a few games and the supporters all start looking for someone to blame. There's no one as fickle as footy fans! Surely the sign of a good manager is not how he reacts to success but how he reacts to adversity.
Pretty much agree with your views but particularly like the "how he reacts to adversity". That is clearly a sign as to how strong anyone is. Not only should the manager react to adversity with strength and a positive attitude. So should the players. And so should we as fans. What better time to get behind the magament set up and the players than no? Seems obvious to me. Stick with what they're trying to do .....through good times and bad.
