There are only 14 possible outcomes for Barnsley

... any of the 7 other teams home or away. The order in which teams are drawn out of the hat is Roger Irrelevant.

    absolutely correct............

I was referring to all possible outcomes-so the chance of any one particular guess being correct is 1 in 1680

    Surely its 1 in 56

If you ignore the order of the games

    RE: no nt

we have 14 possible games. the next team, lets say Man Utd has 14 possible but we have already counted 2 with ours so its 12 etc etc etc

    14 + 12 + 10 + 8 + 6 + 4 + 2 + 0 = 56

    neither am I

there are 8! ways of the teams coming out of the hat one after the other-of those 8! the4 games can occur in 4! ways -as you say the order of the actual games is irrelevant-so the total possible is 8!/4! = 1680 :)

Are you using an exclaimation mark on purpose or just trying to type numbers loudly?

I lost the will to learn.
