Afternoon all, this is my first post on here so please keep ya negative comments to yourself Having read a few threads on here recently about how little money we have, how much impact do you think the situation with Hume had? I ask this with the greatest respect to the lad, nice to see him carrying on his playing career. Also, with the hype about who is going to take charge at Oakwell, would you rather bring in a decent manager or improve our options for out on the field?
Hate to say it, especially with me being an optimist, but I think this season's gone. I think it would take a lot for us to stay up, so now i'm back tracking on my previous managerial suggestions, and hoping for someone who'll be a hit with the fans, try and get a bit of life back inside Oakwell. Neil Redfearn or Craig Hignett with Andy Cole would certainly do that. As would Gerry Taggart, just relieved of his duties at Oldham. Who knows, a couple of good results, and the masses could come flooding back. I think whoever comes in will inherit a decent midfield, and a few decent options at full back, as I feel Golbourne, Stones, Hassell and Cranie are all adequate full backs. We just need that solid centre half partnership, a pairing who can get a run together as Foster and McNulty did at the start of last season. Along with 1 or 2 more strikers, especially with Davies, Tudgay and Sinclair all set to depart, I just can't see a combo of Dagnall and Harewood being the answer. A decent finisher alongside Dagnall could work though. We'll just have to see Welcome to the mad house.
MRP1...........welcome fellow REDS fan. I think we are in desperate need for a true Leader and would like an experienced Championship Manager. He could knock our squad into shape along with some transfers and loans in/out.
I have throughout most of the year maintained that we have the makings of a decent side at this level albeit on an apparent shoe string budget If not for some poor managerial judgments and injuries to key players we may be sat in a different position. Holding on for a result has to be one of our main faults this season, with points lost to Leicester away and Brum at home for example. Now more than ever it is apparent we have a serious lack of quality, 100% committed, match fit players at cb and st
