Right, my take on the season so far....(and I haven't seen us play yet) Against QPR - of course disappointed with the result but if I'm honest before the game I was expecting a lot more than losing by just one goal. Yes it's possible points dropped but come on, the first game with a fair few new players. Plus we're notoriously slow starters and when did we last win at Loftus Road? I can't comment on the performance as I wasn't there but reading all the comments from Reds fans, QPR fans and the match reviews we played ok and possibly could and should have got something out of the game - surely positive? It's gone now, lots more points to play for. Last night - well it beats shipping 7 like we did last year. Appreciate we lost against lower league opposition and perhaps if it wasn't for two penalities we would be in the hat/bag/box for the next round. Yes we may have missed out on a bit of revenue but when was the last time we did well in the league cup and got anymore than about 8k at Oakwell? A little bit embarrassing as well perhaps but hey, we're used to that aren't we? Saturday - I am actually able to go as the bosses have given me a weekend off. I'm looking forward to seeing the new signings and how we actually play. I'm under no illusions it will be a tough game, but fingers crossed the cobwebs will have been blown off and we can have a real crack at Coventry. I also hope for a good reception and proper support for the first home game. No doubt there will be a few that begin to get on the team's back if it doesn't go the way we all want it to, but ffs we're not even out of August yet - what use is booing the team? You should stay at home or even better go to another club and give them grief, see if you can't f*ck them over too.
RE: Yes it is a good post, why do think its not? nt Probably because it's positive and doesn't slag off everything BFC related.
Positivity can always have an impact. Same as being negative, getting on the manager's/player's back/booing will have negative implications.

I didn't intend to start a war between those who do and those who don't but surely we're all in this together with the same aim? SD ain't gonna walk and the board ain't gonna get shut of him for a whole host of reasons - financial, who's gonna replace him, having the whole "it's not my team excuse come May". Slagging the team off after two games in my opinion is bloody ridiculous. Discuss.
Its indicative of the way football's gone. Instead of clubs being patient and working through the bad times its always a case of getting shut of the manager or signing someone knew. The reality should be that everyone gets there head down, work hard and improve. The club has stability for the first time in a long while and that needs to continue. Its early days and we have a long injury list, plus by all accounts we were the better team away at QPR. Things will come good, but my concern is the trigger happy element who seem to think we should be in the Premier League will be on the temas back if we don't win saturday leading to reuced conifidence and consequnetly reduced chances of winning football matches which is why the SUPPORTERS need to SUPPORT
Like I said, I'm not wanting to start a slagging match, as a group of fans it appears we have enough division already. I just wanted to put my point across as have you so elequently. Completely respect what you're saying and that you have justified it - just that I don't agree with it. No hard feelings.
OK. Peace man. I must make myself clear though that my only grievance is with Davey. I know sacking him now is not going to happen but if he continues to make the same wrong decisions over and over again the club and the fans will ultimately suffer. Managers come and go but the only thing that remains is the fans. I don't blame Bobby for being stuck in midfield. I don't blame Odejayi that someone is willing to pay his wage as a footballer. I don't blame More for being slow and so on. I blame Davey and although I support the club and the team, it is him who has created a team that is not looking too good at this stage. I'm basing my opinion on facts and not hope.
The problem is you blindly follow the opinion that Davey is doing a bad job and can't accept when he does well. I think he is on balance doing a good job. He has made mistakes but also done a lot of positive things. Everyone actually involved in football rates him and the job he has done. The problem is if you view him entirely negatively then you want us to lose to prove your point that you have backed yourself in to a corner to make, and you automatically assume new players are rubbish and hope for them to support that opinion(not you personally, I just mean people who constantly abuse Davey). This is evident from the stands without booing, it is the atmosphere and translates on to the pitch and forums, callers on phone-ins etc creates a negative vibe, Its all too Sheffield for me
My opinions are there to be shot at and disagreed with. My opinion that Davey is no good is based on the facts that apart from a handful of decent signings, a lucky win at Liverpool and a fantastic win against Chelsea there is nothing else to show the ability some think he possesses. We won at Watford? Great. 1 in how many and then this season we've reverted to norm away from home. Where's the progress? What has Davey done to show his ability? I'm waiting for someone to tell me but no one ever does. And I can assure you that I do not ever want the team to lose to prove a point. The fact is we do lose - which proves my point!
Losing 7-1 to a premiership side when we were a league 1 club. Losing 2-0 to a league 1 club when we are a championship club. About the same really.
But my main argument which again is there to be disagreed with, is that keeping us up is a very good achievement and he has signed very good players for relatively little money. Muller, Foster, De Silva and JCR are all excellent players bought on a shoe-string who have done the job when other teams around have had the money to buy proven players. Leicester are a prime example of this and they went down. The reason I think he's doing is a good job is becuase my expectations are that staying in this division is an excellent achievement and a gradual improvement year on year is success. Thats why pro/anti Davey people can't be convinced of each others points bcuase I think our expectations are different
A degree of realism is brought to the discussion. All hail to the clubs achievements 10 years ago under DJW but times change. Staying up in todays Championship for a team that has had no money since the golden days, very nearly dropped to the bottom tier of English football and was so badly run we nearly vanished altogether is a BIG achievement. Christ of course I'd love us to be up there with the big boys both on the signings front and on the pitch but we ain't that club anymore. And the more bitching and negativity we have now can only delay us getting back there.
