1. Can anyone tell me what the rules for smoking will be in the well, as the new rules will be in force before the new season.

    2. Will we ever be able to get a pint in the Ponte End, I think we should get a petetion going to let the club see that the stand is not full of Chav's & Idoit's (well there is a few) But i'm in my 40's and would love to have a pint in the ground.

    comments please

I understand there's a problem getting a licence for the Ponte End due to the available space or something. The club have looked at several options, over the years, to get round this problem but none of them have been viable.

All football stadia in the UK will be no smoking from next season as per FA/Football League rules.

Why can't they put a temporary structure (portakabin) in the Ponty car park like the Pikeys did at Belle Vue?

The bar problem is down to the width of the concourse, rules state that it is not wide enough for the club to serve alcohol. The north stand and East stand is not a problem.

    don't believe the space excuse

Huddersfield town have a bar in their away stand which both looks directly onto the playing area AND has less space that the ponty end

    EH?

Come on then, this should be good. A conspiracy to keep the ponte end dry?

    Hi mate,

I smoke but don't have a problem with the ground being non smokein.Prob all grounds will be next season.

Asfor the bar in the ponte end, I have shouted about it for years, everyones a winner, I can't see a down side to it.

Itwould get people in the ground at least an hour before kick off,(got to be a good thing, stewardin wise at least)it would create a better atmos in the ponte end(a couple of pints to loosen the old larynx)and folks would get a chance to meet other tarn fans, peoplewho they otherwise wouldn't chat to...

come on tarn, lets have a pint, in't ponte.(Y)

RE: don't believe the space excuse

A bar facing the pitch, I do not think so, and certainly do not recall one.

No, not some conspiracy, more like typical double standards by the FA/Football league, one rule for one, another for another. See for example West Ham (proven to have lied about a signing yet no points deduction), Leeds united (fielded ineligable player, only a fine of LESS than the players wages), Cardiff (allowed to keep their standing stadium despite safety issues and them having known about the rule for years).

Their away stand has the exits/gangways at the back which go directly onto the concourse and have nothing blocking the view of the pitch, the bar is on that concourse. Buy a pint, turn around to walk away from the bar and you will find yourself looking straight at the pitch which I'm led to believe is against the rules yet they were allowed to install a bar there.

    1. All football league grounds will be non smoking this season even though legally the stands dont have to be smokefree as not a substantially enclosed workplace.

    2. There will be no bar in the Ponty as there is the open area between the Ponty and the West Stand, this is a dfficult area to enforce as it is illegal to to watch the game whilst drinking alcohol.

    Yes but

Since when did the FA/Football league issue alcohol licenses? I think you will find it's Barnsley Council.

I was under the impression from this "The bar problem is down to the width of the concourse, rules state that it is not wide enough for the club to serve alcohol. " that he was referring to some football league/fa rule.

I can't believe that Barnsley council would rule the ponty end to be smaller than Treadles wine bar to be fair.
