........... extremely bad decision by BFC, would love to know the rationale behind that decision, as it's impossible to know why a club would do that when they have 6,000+ season ticket holders. Unbelievable.

Accept all the arguments about this being an AWAY match and therefore regular away supporters should have some priority but that would be an adminstrative nightmare to manage and only prolong the wait even more for those queuing up whilst the box office staff sort through X number of away ticket stubs etc.

Feel so sorry for the season ticket holders and other regular fans who have not managed to get a ticket but the ticketing arrangements they put in place was always going to cause these problems, but sure as eggs are eggs, the Barnsley end at Anfield will have lots of 'part-timers' and 'big match hangers on'.

Absolute shambles of the highest order ............ 2nd only to selling season tickets to the glory hunters/new fans (remember the 'buy one season ticket, get 2 for your mates' offer?) before the 96/97 season had even finished, when we won promotion to the Premiership, and most of the 'current' season ticket holders had not even received their renewal notices (which meant most of the 'new fans' got the best seats).

Nothings changed in ten years really has it? /poo

Good post. Did you get your usual big batch of tickets? How many coaches you sold?

    1 reason

and the only one I can think of up to now.

Companires get charged, by visa or whoever, for electronic funds transfer. Therefore to maximise profits and reduce the amount of charges the club incur they have tried to half the amount of transactions.

6000 tickets sold one each, compared to 2 each. On average half as many transactions.

I know people have gone with a few season tickets to reduce the amount of people waiting, but on avarage it has halfed the costs to BFC.

    Piss poor though if so.

    Bang on

I did think that once Spinks and party had gone, then fiascos like that Prem Season Ticket thing would be a thing of the past. Spinks wouldn't come out fo his office to talk to me when I went in to find out why tickets had been on sale before my renewal came through.

It must be a pre-requisite of getting a senior admin job at Oakwell - "what would you do to make life as difficult as possible for Barnsley fans"

    Yes I did ..............

......... but they were for the home and away regulars, most of whom could not get down to oakwell because they were working.

We are taking 6 or 7 coaches from the Rising Sun (seats are £12), we could probably fill more but think it's quite hard getting hold of the coaches (at a decent price) and then it needs 2 of the regulars to run each coach so think we will be sticking at 6 or 7

    RE: 1 reason

Depending on which card is used and which bank deals with the credit card system, an organisation gets charged either a %age of the total takings or is charged per item.

so they may or may not benefit financially from this, however it would be brave to come out and cite it as a reason anyway.

As Albatross said I can't think of one solid reason as to why they would have done it this way, surely they didn't think that by having one per ST they wouldn't sell out.

Spinks came out to speak to me and said ........

......... "oh wise up big lad, we deliberately did it to cause as much panic as possible so we would sell out much faster and if a few fans are upset by that policy, then it's tough" .......... I really don't know how I didn't knock him out ....... the 'few fans who are upset' that he was referring to was the die hard 3,000 or so season ticket holders who had been ST holders for 10, 15, 20+ years through the many barren years, and it seems, like you say, those days have not been left behind with Spinks & Co's departure.

I know mate, it's pointless now but ...........

....... why didn't they use lots of turnstyles for cash payments and just use the box office for credit cards? Or am I missing something?

Don Rowing just been on Dearne FM ........... "With hindsight we should have just allowed one ticket per season ticket and it's caused me to review future ticketing arrangements" ............ oh good!!

    At least he understands hindsight

Unlike our manager who still put three ******* strikers and no goalkeeper on the bench on Saturday.

The whole lot of 'em need their heads banging together.

My mate was just saying that. Also why not open on Sunday when most folk arent at work. Luckily a mate took all our STs and got all our tickets. Two lads that sit with us every week didnt get theirs.

.......... in mind if not in body, ***** the lot of 'em, hope they haven't all 'switched off' till the Anfield trip is over and done with or we could be in big trouble

It's 1:1 at Huddersfield for the Chelsea Game

My Boss strolled down to the Galpharm earlier and was back within the hour....
