Looks like they are increasing the tax threshold to 9k. Happy days. I also hear they are looking at bringing in granting automatic planning permission for building on green belt land. I might see if I can build an immigration detention centre on the route of the Berkshire Hunt.
Maybe thats a not such a bad thing. At least while they are getting slagged off on here our Keef gets a bit of respite. Every cloud and all that.
Is that to happen immediately or from next year? Are they still going ahead with the plan to reaise it to 10k eventually?
I think that raising the personal limit is a good thing. But they will take it all back in indirect taxation. Let us not forget that VAT is at 20% and will remain so for ever now I think.
I think it's £8,100 this April and £9,00 next. I think it's the Lib Dems who (claim) they want to increase it to 10k but it doesn't look likely. Not in the short term anyway.
Watching it. These f.ckers run our country. Immature *******s, shushing, smiling, smirking and shouting at each other. Viva la revolution.
Controversial but I don't think the VAT thing is too bad as you don't really notice it unless you are making a really big purchase such as a car. I think they will try to claim it back through fuel duty - an increaseof 3p per litre - ouch!
Cheers, every little bit helps i suppose, but like Redstar says nobody will notice as we will paying more out of our disposal incomes in other taxes.
Giving with one hand and taking with the other. They are probably hoping that we look at our pay slips and are grateful to them and neglect to consider our outgoings. I bike to work though so I'm laughing!
They are bringing more people into the 40% tax bracket by lowering the threshold at the top end, welfare/benefits to be cut further so if you are unemployed or sick further pain, tax rise for pensioners by freezing then abolishing the higher personal allowances for 65 yr and 75 yr olds .......but if you earn £150k+ and work for a business that pays corporation tax ,get the champagne out you've just won the lottery.
They've only been adjusting the 40% bracket though to keep those paying 40% still paying the same, i.e. not getting a cut due to the increase in the tax allowance. The 40% bracket is approx £35,000 but that is £35,000 plus the tax allowance, so more like £43,000.
i don't mind the drop in tax for the rich cos i am gunna be rich someday and then i will be laughing! 'that was a party political broadcast from the rich feckers society' hth
