Not 'cos we lost the game. You don't get relegated because you lose at home to the best team in the league. But you do if you're already in a bad position and you lose both your centre halves for any length of time. We got a good look at what happens when that occurs in the second half: two Barnsley attacks, two Leicester goals. Ref played a blinder: cut out a great through ball by McCourt, played it perfectly to their forward and as a result we lost Cranie to injury. When Ramage went off too the game, and possibly the season depending how long they are out, was over. Mellis was awful again. Woods offered nothing, and those corners at Donny look like a flash in the pan because his set piece delivery since has been average at best. Dawson worked his guts out. As did O'Grady but was marshalled by a very competent defensive unit. Jennings tried hard but gave the ball away too often. Apart from that... Don't know why we're so reticent to shoot. Makes bugger all sense to me. Leicester have spent **** loads more money than us and tonight they were much better than us, as they've been much better than most teams this season. Don't know what you can do about that, particularly when you lose half your defensive unit who have been two of the most consistent performers recently.
Re: That could be that That IS that for me. We just looked clueless tonight and fair enough Leicester are a classy side but we never got out of bed. The injuries to our two key players in no way helped our cause but across the team we were shockingly amateur. Mellis was horrible. McCourt anonymous. Woods invisible and M'voto was the clown we know once he entered the action. A frustratingly embarrassing evening and one that left me completely deflated and lacking any sort of optimism.
Re: That could be that Are we surprised about Mellis? He has been awful all season. I honestly don't know where we go from here. The two best players out injured, it very much looks like game over.
Re: That could be that The fact that no footballer at the club can take a corner that consistently hits the target area, is staggering.Professional footballers. a) It should be a grooved skill (i.e. one they can do in their sleep); and b) they should have a number of well rehearsed set pieces. We have neither. Unless our target area is their first defender?
Re: That could be that Exactly my thoughts. Hope we can use the space created by Shea going back to get a centre back in before Saturday. M'Voto isn't Championship quality and Vardy made a mug of him. What an arse he is by the way. I don't normally feel dislike for any of our players, but Woods makes my blood boil. Don't know what Wilson is thinking playing him in the middle of the park. Bottom line for us is that if O'Grady is unable to dominate the opposition defenders, we have no other options.
Re: That could be that agree with a lot of what you say Jay, I feel we need a change of mentality, Flitcroft knew we needed to win games last season and set us out to do so and that's how we beat teams like Leicester. Our approach of sitting back is what's killing us, it's like we're waiting for them to score. Then when they do inevitably score we have to go forward, but we've got no momentum on our side and so we lack any real intent. That leaves us so open to counter attacks and the good teams rip you apart in this way like Leicester did today. Don't mind us losing if we've given it a go but we just aren't doing that at the minute.
That could be that I thought Danny wanted to inject pace into the side? Sure that's what he said when he took over? What's happened to that ideology I wonder? :/
Re: That could be that Bugger, forgot to mention Steele. Another one of the few that deserves praise. Soz Luke.
Re: That could be that the injuries to cranie, ramage and o'brien are far more damaging than the result tonight. a defence of hunt, nyatanga, m'voto and kennedy will ship goals for fun. also losing mclaughlin and hassell. our squad just can't absorb those kinds of losses.
Re: That could be that Ship goals for fun. Haven't we done that for most of the season anyway? Those 3 players have played there part in us been bottom end of the league all season. Maybe Mega Mellis can step up and save us. (I think a few of our players might be overated TF.)
I think "a great through ball by McCourt" is kind. Looked like the ref stopped a Leicester player from intercepting it. Don't disagree with much of the rest.
