I've just been looking and thats when it all started for me. My first ever BFC match!! I was only 5! I can remember my first and only time STANDING on the ponty. It was the last home match of the season and we played Wolves. We won 2-0 and I clearly remember Brendan O'Connell scoring and I was sat on the wall at the front and he came right up to me screaming in my face and I remember being really excited cos he did that. Suppose you could say thats where my passion comes from - Brendan O'Connell screaming in my face! Anyone remember their first match? Any good memories??
going to sleep on the floor of the west stand is all I remember about my first match. ... ohh, and I remember these people walking onto the pitch but they came from the direction of the (now) Welcome Windows stand. TT
1978 for me Lot of water passed under the bridge since then! Do you think I'll get a free season ticket next year - 30 years and all that?
Flipping heck young Amy !! You've made an old man feel even older !!! My first game was the opening match of the 1968/69 season . We were at home to Barrow and Johnny Evans scored after a couple of minutes to put us 1-0 up . Barrow hit back and led 3-1 , before Allen Bradbury got a second near the end . We lost 3-2 and ( as a young lad coming up to his 9th birthday ) I thought it was the end of the world !! (doh)
Mine Was.......... when we beat Ipswich 2-0 in the FA Cup. I'd take 2-0 against them in a couple of weeks.
RE: Good grief 4th round of the cup in the 1989/90 season. Taggart and Cooper scored and we had over 14,000 there. Went out after a replay in the 5th round against the Blunts. Now what was you saying about a zimmer frame
Remember the Blunts game Wasn't it the battle of the crap kits - we had the stars one and they had the bright green thing - remember the commentators say something about it
Wigan Athletic On 21st October 1978 in the old 4th Division. We drew 0-0. The closest I can remember to either side scoring was when Ally Miller hit the bar from a free kick he curled up & over the wall.
First one I can remember was 18.2.61 beat Luton 1-0 in the Cup - Jackie Lunn scored.
I know I was going before that but that's the first I can clearly remember.
So it's 46 years so far.
I know it's in me genes cos my Dad went to a game on the day I was born!
Which, needless to say, we lost.

RE: First one I can remember was Its definately in my genes! My Dad has been going since about 1965/66 (he would have been 10) and my brother had the team poster over his cot! People always ask me why i like football (cos I'm a girl) and the only answer I have for them is that it was what my Dad and Adam did on a Saturday afternoon so I just followed suit. There's 6 years between me and our Adam and when I was 2 someone said I was more like an 8 year little boy that a 2 year old girl!
23-08-1977 English League Cup Barnsley 0-2 Chesterfield.... went with my grandad...sat on the wall at the bottom of The Paddock next to St Johns Ambulance dugout surprisingly we lost.....
At least we have seen hw bad it can be makes the present day moaners look foolish compared to the early 70's.
