And only now can I say I've seen one of our players score 20 goals in one campaign.

I know it's L1. I know Payton, Higgy, Redders and Richard Naylor came close at a higher level for us, but still. A superb achievement nonetheless for Sam Winnall. And we all know that he loves a purple scoring patch. So another five or six in the next few games will go down nicely too. :)

Hats off too to Hourihane for his 7,982nd assist this season.

Still 40 years almost to the day since any forward scored 20 league goals for us. Surely Sam cann break the curse of the Oakwell forwards.

Both Currie and Payton scored 20 goals including cup goals in a season and Higgy got 19 and 2 in the play offs.

Hourihane just floats those corners in literally anybody could do it as Hamill demonstrates when he takes them...

You didn't see Richard ******* Naylor come close to scoring 20 goals for us, I can assure you. He came close to running 20 yards for us I suppose, but missed it by about 19.

It's quite a long standing thing though, that I see Richard Naylor as our worst ever striker. Most folk of my age refer to Deon Burton or Dave Regis, but for me it was Naylor. Because he'd ******* done us over with Ipswich, always looked a reight forrad. Then joins us and put in less graft than I do at work on a Monday.

So I included him in the post for comedy effect. I'm quite disappointed that it went over folk's heads. I will increase my efforts at comedy from here on in.

Can I also say to Jimmy Cricket that you've ruined my thread. I too though Higgy et al had scored 20 in a season, but club history bloke on twitter said nobody had since Glavin. Hence my excitable thread.

In fact, this thread has serious flaws. Shut it down, Gally. Put some James Cordon around it. Nowt to see here.

Just to point out, nobody on twitter picked up on my Richard Naylor thing. Twitter people get me, man.

Glavin is definitely the last player and Brian Joicey said the last forward to get 20 league goals.

Currie got 17 and 3 cup as did Payton.

Odejayi must have got more though.

I saw Joicey hit 26 goals, but that was in Div 4.

Sam has been a great signing. He will move on, but will be remembered well by me.

If we get promotion more so.

its not good enough ap white, people dont like to be reminded of the awful 2000 defeat against ipswich and naylor & co. :p
i think back to what a good striker david currie was for us in the first spell, his 20 goals in 88-89 almost got us to the play offs that season. and then there was of course andy payton in 94-95 which was also another play off near miss. is there a coincidence here!!

I wish we'd go back to Conor taking them all, we had a higher return rate then I'm sure of it!

I was queuing in the Box Office last night in front of two women who were banging on about how they didn't like Winnall and how they thought he was over-rated.

Unbelievable given his performance this season.

he shoudl have scored 5 or 6 last night with the chances he had

COuld have been the leagues top scorer today. Unbelieveable the chances he had. Didnt think it was going to be his our our night. Didnt enjoy it at all - very frustrating but so glad we got it over the line.

Should have scored 5 if he'd taken the chances. However I was relieved when he stepped up to take the penalty and not Conor.

After Super Sammy scored his penalty, did anyone else see him walking back to the halfway line shaking his head? He looked p**sed off. Hope that isn't something aimed towards the fans because I'm pretty sure most fans with half a brain know what he means to us. There is always some vocal turds like those you mention.

    Doubt it tbh,
Surely he knows most of the fans love him and Iif he's gonna play up to a vocal minority he's daft.
