16 new players signed Not including Tony Warner and Luke Steele, and our season's knackered because a midfielder's out with ligament damage.
It's a price we pay because the manager's still learning his trade. He's only had the job just over a year, so we'll have to wait patiently until he learns how to change tactics during a match. He still thinks a defender's doing a good job in midfield so that's okay then.

Dont think one or two substitutions wouldve made a difference dont think Hassell did too bad either. we've got some good players and some not so good. conditions didnt help, having one eye on not getting booked or injured cos of the Chelsea game, not making excuses but perhaps its not as dire as we think. that said, I would like to see us get a couple of loan signings in, a goalscorer and combative midfield player pls.
No squad depth then Not just Saturday. QPR sussed our 'midfield' after 20 minutes and nullified it. If things aren't going our way Davey so far has been unable to change anything via substitutions or tactics. Wednesday made the game very narrow on Saturday and Davey couldn't respond.
This summer he needs to thin out his squad, and focus on key areas. Also perhaps go on a 'spot a good striker' course. Do the FA run those ?

The changes he made were exactly the ones I wouldve. Nardi werent interested, again, so Ode deserved a chance and given conditions, was probably a decent option for holding the ball up. Leon did nothing for me, and Devaney can consider himself unlucky to be kept out, so that was a change I'd have made an all. JCR was starting to look knackered, Coulson has made an impact in other games that he's been brought on, so again, probably the right move. as for changing the formation, not so sure anything other than 4-4-2 wouldve done any good, and a point was better than nowt. we need a striker, Nardiello isnt consistent enough. and De Silva leaves a massive hole, so rather than let the season end now, I'd want to bring someone else in, with an eye on being a more permanent replacement. Having your best 2 players taken away with long term injuries would be a problem for any side, gotta have some sympathy for Davey on that.
RE: The changes he made That's a fair point. But we've got Andy Johnson, Paul Reid, Sam Togwell, Diego Leon who could have played central midfield. Davey persisted with Hassell. Who defended well. But he's playing in midfield, he needs to get up and down the pitch and pass the ball as well as tackling. I'm not knocking Hassell at all because he's doing what's asked of him. It's just not his position.
We're limping towards 50 points after the manager has brought 16 new players in. Not all new signings come off and Souza etc may be better after a season's experience but 16 new players and the managers throwing together a makeshift side.

RE: The changes he made Not only that Dirk but because of playing Hassell in midfield on Saturday we had that useless van Homeot at right back who seemed to spend the entire game attempting to set up Wednesday attacks.
The problem with Hassell being in midfield, is that the fans have noticed it and are making noises, therefore Davey won't change it as he knows best. In fact, he's probably first player on the team sheet now. He'll be captain next.
If a side gets picked on the fans say so then we're truly bolloxed, so Davey can pick whatever side he sees fit. Performances and points return don't lie though.

Give up, my idea of playing Diego at centre back is a winner, I'm still waiting for Davey to acknowledge the letter obviously.
