Keep looking forward mate Can't understand anyone who gets hung up on ages - just give the ball a good kick whatever. There's always something (someone) new to do.
Re: Keep looking forward mate Every day, you're a day older than the previous one, that's all. Birthdays mean 'nowt, other than a few cards, some cake and an excuse to down a few pints.
Re: Keep looking forward mate To be honest i'm perfectly happy but I know a few mates who freaked out a bit
Best thing l did was look at the missus laid at the side of me and thought "l still look ten years better than that" .............we didn't last.
You're still a bairn, enjoy:- Like some one said earlier age means nowt, but keep giving the ball a good kick whatever, just remember, this is the main event, not a rehearsall. They say life begins at 40, mine started at 56 when I was lucky enough to take my redundo and pension, my intention is grow old as disgracefully as is humanly possible, I fancied a tattoo for years and decided to have it done when I was 60, had another three since and I aint finished yet, might even have mi ear pierced anall. I go out drinking when I can, go on holiday when I can, started hiking wi some guys older than me, owt between 15 and 20 miles a time up on the moors, after 35 years of shifts in a steel works its heaven. Tha's got a lifetime in front of you, go for it big style.
Re: You're still a bairn, enjoy:- ignore my earlier jest...........this thread by t'owd man is bang on....... any more posts like this t'owd man and you will be challenging me for best and most articulate author on here.
Re: You're still a bairn, enjoy:- Absolutely spot on, old buddy. I'm 52 on Sunday and I left the steelworks in similar circumstances to your good self (as you know) two years ago, on my 50th birthday. It was the best thing I ever did. I took up wrestling, went to university and went on my first archaeological dig this summer. Life is for living, as best as circumstances allow. Oh, and many happy returns for tomorrow ark104.
Spot the difference Wrestling, archaeology, university. Tattoo's, drinking, immitating last of the summer wine (think I must be compo ) common as muck me tha nose.
Re: Spot the difference Nowt wrong with Compo!! You're also one of the most respected and well-liked posters on here, mate, even if you're trying to claim you're growing old disgracefully!!Lol
Re: you've made me blush now get a room u two! lol im 30 next year, yet i got asked for ID in the bookies earlier! apparently i dont look 21..
That picture of you in your leotard was at odds with the image I had of you, based on only hearing your authorative dulcette tones over the phone.
Re: That picture of you in your leotard The mind boggles! But thank you for the compliment. It begs the question though, what WAS the image you had of me? Big Daddy? Brad Pitt? Mr Bean? Joe Pasquale??Lol
Magnus Magnusson type of bloke No, seriously, with your great knowledge of all things wages, your amazing memory of clock numbers ( how did you do that ) your ability to solve any problem I had with the teams wages and all delivered in that dark chocolate voice gave me that sort of image. Just shows what a bizzare imagination I have.
Re: Magnus Magnusson type of bloke How did he do that you ask? how did he remember all the numbers? How did he know so much about wages? How could he answer anything that you asked? Simple, he took laura to work with him and all your phone calls were on loud speaker with her writing down the answer to everything you asked.
