    Car thief bids to ram police
    A THIEF tried to ram a police car in Barnsley in the early hours of the morning after making off in a stolen vehicle.

    Police were called to Royston just before 6am yesterday morning when a resident reported his red Escort had just been stolen from outside his home.
    The car spotted by police in the Athersley North area tried to ram them off the road and was later found burned out.
