After that 2nd half of the season performance, surprised me anyway.

I think it's great as well. Yes people did it to avoid the increase but it's still very good. I'm surprised only 300 are paying in installments but then the admin charge probably put a few off. We need to extend the early bird for another month and promote it saying we are extending it due to high demand or something.

An extension to the end of 31st May could put another 1,000 onto it. Not looked into the deadlines for the STs after deciding against one.

Aye we could get another 1,000 pretty easily. We can promote the really good early sales as the reason for an extension. It's better than selling next to no season tickets which will happen in May.

    Why is it good?
We had 9000 last season, 7500 this season, and so far you are saying we have sold 5000 of renewals.
So that is 5000 who have renewed so they dont end up paying more. Which in turn means 2500 - including me - havent had either the funds or motivation to sign back up. So are you telling me that those 2500 are all just waiting?
We will sell 6000 at best, which is another 1500 shed through insouciance or lack of money/faith.
I dont know how anyone can dress it up as a good thing. The club have forced people to pay early, or pay more, after a disaster of a season where we should have gone down. If however, you are saying its a good thing because you expected less renewals, then fair enough, I agree

It's good because the new season is three and a half months away. Over half of our ST base from last season has renewed 14 weeks early. You are being stupid if you think we will only get another 1,000 fans in that time. Those who don't have the funds have plenty of time to find it before the season starts. An extra two weeks than normal with the later start date. Wait until we get to August before you panic about sales. By then people will get blind optimism, start missing footie, think our signings are good etc and more sales will come.

I am with thee YT. Great use of the word insouciance too, first time I have seen it on this board.

I'm with Whitey, people have renewed already because the price freeze expired on Monday. Of the 4 of us with ST's, 3 have renewed and 1 isn't going to, that ties in with the figures overall. I don't think we'll get that many more signing up now, 1000 at most.

    I hope I'm wrong though.

For us to have sold 67% of last years total at the end of April is very good considering how bad the season's finish was. The next deadlines difference is only £20 on an adult ticket so l'd expect sales to be decent over the next two months, probably breaking the 6k mark. We'll see anyway. We won't get near the 9k/10k of previous seasons, people are feeling the recession a lot more now. Banks were still throwing credit cards at you 2/3 year ago.

Agree with Whitey .... 7 Adults & 1 Juvenile in our 'clan' ! Nobody has renewed, not one of us ! Reason being there's a gun to our head to renew early & the performances have been too grim !!

What's happened in the last 4 months on the field is too raw. Too many gutless defeats & total lack of direction & goals. In addition way too many pointless loanees running around. (Which we were promised wouldn't happen again).

7 Adults + 1 Juvenile = £2,830 the club have missed out on. (or there or there abouts).

'IF' the deadline date had been the usual then it's highly likely we would all have renewed ..... 'time' would have taken the sting out of our anger & dissapointment & in addition a few new signings might have created a little excitement.

As things stand we won't be at Oakwell next season .... we refuse to pay 'more' for a season ticket after what we have seen since xmas & there's no way any of us will pay £25-£30 to watch the reds play anyone on a game by game basis.... it's just too much.

    So that's that i'm afraid .....

And how many of them have stated this is their last if we have a repeat performance??

Me for one! If they rip me off again this year like they have the previous then it wont be happening 3 times on the bounce! I had to really convince myself to get one this year and i've finally done it on agreement that if we have a repeat thats it - until things change!

I feel this season is make or break for Barnsley Football Club! I hope they realise just how important it is they get it right and show their intent with some good signings.

2 more to be renewed next week .... couldn't be bothered queuing and online trying to renew for my mate & me was too painful.

Groundhog Season Ticket I should ask for .... same as last year, and the year before that ... etc

Do not get me twisted though, I hope we AT LEAST sell a similar number of tickets as we did last summer, but I refuse to get excited by something that was always going to happen. The way I see it, the diehards have renewed thus far. I have had a ST since 94, and whilst my away games have decreased somewhat recently, I would class myself as one of the diehards, or at least something like. So why have I not renewed for the first time in 18 years? I am lacking funds, but I have family and friends who would have helped me out to secure that early bird price. I nearly went down that route even. But nothing I have heard out of Oakwell convinces me that I am valued as a supporter, and nothing convinces me that next season will differ - for the better - from the last 5 or 6 years.
I'm not turning my back due to the on-field events. I am a supporter, and I am a Barnsley one at that so I am well used to losing etc. In fact, I'm not turning my back period. But what I am doing, is taking the next few months to analyse the club and it's rhetoric, it's claims, and of course the transfer activity, and then come August I shall make a decision.
I move to Bradford before then, so I have travel costs to take into account too. It has been hard enough walking home to Carlton after yet another fruitless afternoon, but at least that was free and not a 40 odd mile journey...
I haven't got the same faith in Keith Hill that I had last June. It has diminished rapidly. But the remaining faith and hope that I have in him, is equalised by the rug-pulling, pants down antics of messrs Rowing, Taylor et al. Keith is a good manager, and could/may get this club moving forward. But with our current board, he isn't merely working with hands tied, they may as well have amputated em..
And so it comes back to us - the supporters - in way of suggesting that if we had more people paying in, buying tickets etc, that the club could spend more, or turn down other clubs when they come sniffing. So maybe it is people like me who are to blame, for not renewing?
I dunno anymore. I just refuse, after 24 years of support, to piss my money away without feeling like the club want me, listen to me, or indeed care about me. And you can replace the me's with us if you like, it's all relevant.
My dad, 49 year old, sacked off his 30 year love affair with the club during Davey's reign. He was nearly tempted back in December, but January came and the club have let down the current, and lapsed fanbase ever since with error after error.
    .
PS - I'll be back shiny and optimistic in my usual spot in the Ponty come August. So disregard everything just said :D

I haven't renewed yet. I'm going away on holiday with the missus in June and couldn't quite afford both. Ill be getting mine in July and paying slightly more :(

Yep, which makes us better fans because we pay more...

A load of my mates aren't renewing until they come back off holiday in the summer, which is what they usually do every season. If l spend £300 plus at Oakwell in the next coming months she's threatened to chop my **** off.

Just suppose Barnsley had said in February that next season the price of a ST will be £20 more whether you buy then or August. Would you have renewed then? Is it really about the early bird deadline your argument, really?

Most clubs will have put up prices. I'd have accepted £335 for mine at the end of the day. Still under £15 a game. £315 offer wasn't the only reason I renewed. To not renew because it's now 87p more a game after 30 April is a bit picky.

The club now know they have £x guaranteed in the bank for early transfer discussions.

Extremely good post. My 2 sons and I renewed on Monday despite me having said for several weeks that I wasn't going to. Main reason being that I knew that if I left it to the normal deadline I would not have paid the extra as a matter of principle. No way. It just so happens that I am lucky enough to have the funds available now but it may well have been different.
