I'd deffo like to see that

I have been saying similar for quite a while now. Although I dont really think we have the wingbacks to make it work how it should. I would like to see a 4-3-1-2 formation. Why play with wingers, when we never score from crosses? Our wide players are ineffective to say the least and should no longer be accommodated in our team. Instead play a midfield three, the central of which to be Togwell - possibly Howard and McCann the other two. Then in the hole I would play Hayes. He has shown he has an eye for a pass, and is possibly the only one who will happily play the ball into feet - something we are currently lacking in VAST amounts. Until we start to play the ball into the feet of the strikers we wont score goals. Simple.

I think this is where Eckersley could come good. He's young, has the pace and stamina for it, can cross and we would be less reliant on his defensive ability. I also think if we made a wing back out of Nicky Eaden, we can do so with HassellC</p> <table width="400" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5" border="0"> <tbody> <tr valign="top"> <td style="width: 20%">

Certainly has a reasonable look about it. </p>

    wingbacks

was just about to say that

definately think Howard would do well and benefit from playing in such a role, he leads attacks and scores goals

however, I agree with Naps in that our wing backs aren't good enough. I really like Hassel but he is slow and rarely gets forward, as for Eckersley, he apparently used to play in such a role for the Manure 5th team or whatever, but I have yet to see any evidence that he is the next Darren Barnard.

I'm not coach (certainly don't have my badges) but I would that by pushing to wing backs and playing three in the middle we would weaken ourselves considerably by having one of those three in a 'free' role. I also think that as much as I believe Howard is probably our best player and has performed exceptionally well under the circumstances, a free role should only be given to a Hignett, and Hendrie or a Glavin - and Howard isn't in that class.I don't think we have the wing backs either - I think our left and right backs struggle one on one - imagine if they played against a 4-4-2 and the left and right backs were doubling up with wingers against our wing backs? I find that thought scarey.
