any one on here in a team that plays at 'goal sheffield' on thursday nights? me n a few mates av just set up a team for next season which starts next week but played 2nite in last game of this season, and got hammerd 10-3. we wa just nakerd n were all 17, 18 years olds who are generally fit people, and good on ball ability wise but other team just passed ball around and knew where to stand when we wa just running all over shop when we had ball tryin to beat em. any one on here played 5 a-side and know hows the like ins and outs of best tactics to use?
I used to play 5-a-side We used to get hammered nearly every week, your team were probs nackered because you spent most of the match chasing the ball. The worst thing to do is to not try making too many runs and dont look for space on the pitch, i know it sounds daft but you wont get anywhere ( unless your plaing against a team without pace). Also dont play down the wings, compleate waste of time, try to play down the middle as much as possible.
cheers pal. yeh we were fiter than them, we were making wasteful runs whereas they just passed it and stook to there postions. and were always marking us, whereas we just left them and focused on when we had ball (not good) and passing and moving when really we should have just passed and only made a few runs. suppose we will learn sooner or later not to try and run alltime.
Shoe the little f@@ckers in knee high then use the space to play your normal expansive passing game a bit like Leeds in the 70's
If the pitches are owt like down Vida (the 5-a-side ones), just shoot from anywhere and you'll score.
I play down there on a sunday morning with me mates (not for a team), and find it easy

Used to play there standards very high. Stopped playing there a while back as its too far away and the train was always late. now playing for Huddersfield All Stars at Soccer City (in Hudders). we have: a sweeper - someone strong and good at tackling. Theres no offside so he doesnt have to push up, can stay back at all times and cut out through balls etc a quick guy who basically hogs the touchline and swaps sides every so often - make sure its someone who bounces off the side boards well and can handle a few elbows. a finisher- make sure they dont just stand upfront when the oppositon have got the ball, should be getting back aswell free role player (me), do most of the running and pick up on any lose balls etc alot of the teams that we play push everyone up when theyre attacking so its easy to just counter attack them on the break. aslong as you enjoy it mate, doestnt matter about the result. Great way to get fit aswell.
