this place will spontaneously combust if it is 5% posse's will mount up and head out to the hanging tree
I'm assuming we'll find out eventually, once accounts are published Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
£2 million would get us a few very good players at this level. £6 million would get us out of this league.
I was told by someone who definitely should know that Everton have tried three times to buy out the sell-on clause. I seriously doubt they would have bothered if it's only 5%. Anyway, I guess it doesn't do any harm at all if other clubs believe that's all we got.
I heard that too. Still 2 million to spend when he goes for 40..... The big surprise is some Everton fans are surprised at him wanting to leave. Yes because Stones doesn't have previous for leaving for a bigger club on more money....
No but he is a bit conservative when it comes to telling the truth which he has had umpteen chances to do so. Nope, he has to go
I'm 99.99% certain that Sky Sports News reported it as 15%, at some point last week. It was during their 'Transfer Centre' programme. So, if they're now saying 5%, there's a strong chance they haven't got a f*cking clue either way.
It's clearly nothing to do with money for the lad. If it was he'd have sat quiet and let them sell him, which they will anyway. By putting in a transfer request he forgoes any entitlement to have his contract at Everton paid up when he leaves, if he had been sold without such a request, they would need to have paid him off. For this reason I suspect someone at Everton has asked him to make the request, it's not particularly in his (apparent) nature to rock the apple cart. So he obviously wants to go and play for Mourinho and the current champions, he'll no doubt be handsomely paid to do so but I doubt it's his first worry. He'll earn plenty wherever, he's probably earned enough from Everton to live comfortably for life already, asking for a transfer does not point to wanting money if you have a five year contract which won't be paid up, it's the same with berahino, it's not money they want, it's a bigger club with better players and better opportunities.
Skysports is the definition of lazy journalism anyway. They conifmed Stones had actually been brought through the Everton academy last week so those matches we all saw him play for Barnsley a few years ago must have been a dream.
But if he'd have kept quiet, and Everton didn't sell him, then he'd still be on the same contract as he is now. It's a great opportunity. One you can't really turn down, but I can't help but think if he had no Barnsley connections he'd be getting slated for 'chasing the money'.
My understanding is that the deal had confidentiality clauses associated with it. Therefore the quoted 15% is perhaps just as much a guess as the 5% Also, bear in mind that the media has consistently stated a £3m transfer fee when we now understand it was significantly less; again, who really knows? I sincerely hope we get what we'd hoped for from this as I still feel very strongly that he was given away too cheaply too soon (from our perspective rather than his obviously)
