the way goals are flying in at the minute we've done well to get more than 10 bob for 1 of our defenders

True nudge. He did say when Golbourne got injured last year that he couldn't find a replacement for under a million.

Firstly, I wouldn't trust anything in the Star. They seem to get the most basic of facts wrong and rehash old news as if some incredible exclusive.

After initially being really disappointed about him moving on, if he didn't want to be here and just wanted a pay rise to play lower level football, that's his call. We've got considerably more than we paid, he had some good games, he had some ok games.

I'd also take comments of a value with a pinch of salt. We don't know if that was said to warn people off last year or we knew he wasn't going to sign a new deal and were talking fee up. I certainly never expected anything with a m after a figure.

My initial instinct was the fee was going to be about £250k. If it's £500k-£700k, that's not bad business at all and surely an improvement on what we got for the likes of Hammill, Vaz Te and Davies?

500-700k is a fair deal imo but to be fair anything is an improvement on the 20k we took from the Hammill deal.

500k is still great business for a player with 3/4 of a Champ season under his belt, with a year to run on his contract, and who has been below par (along with many others admittedly) this season.

Apparently, we've received up to £700k less for Golbourne than we did for Butterfield. With Butterfield being our captain, our most influential and highly rated player at the time, as well as being in an U21 squad and 3 years younger, I'd say the Golbourne deal is far superior to that in terms of value for BFC.

Not sure why you needed to drag poor old Don in to it though?

    Good deal for BFC.

Golbourne's an average left back, who likes to think he is an attacking wing back, but he ain't so he can't cross the ball.

What worries me is that Kennedy is no better and RNL does not have enough experience (defensively).

We are weak in the left back position.......Hammill could terrorise us today?
