If you could make a video or DVD featuring the six best ever Barnsley matches since you have been watching the reds, witch games would be in it? I think mine would be: Barnsley 2-0 Bradford City (prem promotion season) Liverpool 0-1 Barnsley (prem) Barnsley 3-2 Manchester United (FA Cup 1998) Barnsley 7-1 Huddersfield Town (div 1 1999) Barnsley 2-4 Ipswich Town (Play-off final 2000) Barnsley 2-2(aet) Swansea (Play-off final 2006) (4-3 on pens)
I'd have the Tranmere game thats on the official 6 of the best video, purely for the comedy commentry at the end when we score he's ranting "call the police, someone call the police. We've been robbed"
the ipswich game would be in my 6 of the worse yes an absolutly greatr experience but the taste at the end wasnt at all good and obviously spoilt the whole occasion
I think I would include Tottenham in the cup. not sure which cup it was but it was a night match. bloody good match if i remember rightly
Huddlesfield away last season, second leg of the play-offs. For me, one of the best barnsley matches i'll probably go to. It was great all round. All the lads, lots of ale, the singing at the end, the walk back to bus, chennels back in town. A reyt night! Roll on some more of those.
If I Had To Choose 6 Of Best Out Of Last Seasons Games, Mine Would Be...... v Oldham (H) 4-0 v Oldham (A) 3-0 v Bradford (A) 5-3 (Fa cup 2nd Round Replay) v Huddersfield (A) 3-1 (Play Off 2nd Leg) v Swansea (C)2-2 AET 4-3 Pens (Play Off Final) v Scnuthorpe (H) 5-2
no one will remember this but anyway the final score was Barnsley 4 - Fulham 3 we were under Norman Hunter's management and Ray Houghton scored their 3rd by the 8th minute. we came back in grand style with Parker, Glavin and friends in fine form
can't believe no-one has mentioned..... ......Play-off semi 2000, Birmingham 0-4 Reds. Also Leicester away in the cup in 1990/91 (?) sticks in the mind for me - won 2-1 after going in 1-0 down at half time, played in a quagmire. My first ever away game. Remember Shotton coming over to take a throw down by our fans with about 5 mins left and gesturing to us to keep raising the roof. Magic stuff.
RE: can't believe no-one has mentioned..... Yep I was at Leicester for that one, terrific day. Saw Big Mal incidentally, at Silkstone garage this very morning.
