Barnsley bring in a lad with 10 league starts on a 2 month loan.

Brad Abbott has 3 times as many starts to his name than he does.

    You couldn't make it up

Well he COULD BE the new John O'Sullivan. He's got a decent pedigree and is not a teenager like some we have brought in. Could be a good replacement for Watkins, and then Harris.

Let's give him a chance at least!!

Sorry, I didn't think I needed to explain that, but here you go...

Watkins is out injured, so he replaces him in the short term
Harris is going back to Cardiff soon, so he replaces him until at least January.

I know you like to get angry about just about everything going on at Oakwell, but I'm not sure why.

I don't like to see us getting beaten by some of the dross that we are playing now, but I've been around long enough to have seen MUCH worse so, on the whole, it's at least good to see some good football. Now, if they can produce a bit more of that, and some aggression in front of goal, we'll be ok

On paper, certainly half decent. I prefer to give players a chance before writing them off. Even the likes of Keith Treacey :)

Well if we have borrowed a vastly inexperienced player who takes us over our loan quota based on him replacing another loaned when his loan expires in 6 potentially 7 games time from now then we are crazier than I thought

I suspect we will find more than one or two on their way back soon. He surely can't persist with Wilkinson much longer. Harris goes in a couple of weeks. Crowley might get recalled by Arsene for his Champions League campaign :)

i'm afraid that just won't happen, given where we are. unless he plays like a world beater today, this signing will get slammed after the game and the beyond. it feels like yet another very strange move by all concerned at he club. they're just heaping pressure on themselves. i'm with mario. lost interest.

Loans are an essential part of football nowadays, especially in the lower leagues. Just the way the game is now. If everybody around us were signing young premier league loans and we stuck to just buying there'd be uproar on here. Damned if you do,damned if you don't

Show me evidence that says 8 loans by this point in the season is an essential part of league one.

By the way today's opponent have loaned 5 players less than us

Its easier and cheaper to get rid of bad loan signings than it is get rid of permanent bad signings by having to pay up there contracts.

I've probably been one of the biggest critics of our use of the loan system but I'm not sure what else you want us to do outside of the transfer window when our wide players are injured and Harris is seemingly going back.

Low risk, low return. You can't sell for profit what you don't own.

I'd love to know the sales figures for shirt printing of loanees names as well. I can't say I've seen a single loan players name on the back of a fans shirt

Harris' loan doesn't end until something like the 22nd November and there are 6 games until then.

What I want us to do is either sign an experienced player or to actually try one of OUR young players instead of everyone else's. Unless we have bizarrely run an academy without a single wide player in it which can't be true as we had them playing in our friendlies just a few months ago

He's 22, not a 17 year old kid. And we do have great players coming through but not necessarily wingers. And getting experienced players on loan isn't easy.
