Attendance - much lower than I thought, hardly anyone must have paid on the gate today.

I can't say owt, I'm laid on the sofa...

Wonder if the club with stick with the policy of charging £28 all season - surely if hardly anyone is paying on the day then playing around with the prices won't hurt?

I've got the centenary card so it's £25 a game if you get there four days before kick off. Still won't be getting much out of me. Missing my 1st home game for god knows how many years, and not missing it a jot.

£25 with the 1887 card yeah - rubbish if you can't use it at the turnstyle...having to go to the ground a few days before the game with the time/petrol involved means the £3 saving just isn't worth it.

Bring the categories back but charge £20 for most games...then cash in for the derby games when people seem to come out of nowhere to attend.

Over 11,000 at Rotherham today - think Bristol brought around 400 - Very Worrying

only around 7,500 reds in Oakwell

When will the penny drop with Disco Don and the board about the £28 per ticket - they are killing it

Usual boring thread. Lower price doesnt mean more in that is proven. As long as us go each week and sing that'll do

Question is, will the stay-away fans put their money where their mouth is?

I am not disputing for one moment that £28 is too much for a Championship football match, nor wishing to slight those who can't or won't pay it. However, the next home game is just £12.50 for adults. If this more than doubles the attendance compared to today, it will give the board food for thought. If it does not, it will demonstrate that slashing prices reduces revenue.

So to those who wish to push for change, if you've voted with your feet by sitting this one out, vote with your feet again in a fortnight and turn out in droves!

Re: Over 11,000 at Rotherham today - think Bristol brought around 400 - Very Worryin

I'm afraid the fact that the club is simply struggling to stay in this division year in, year out just isn't enough to draw people into Oakwell. Barnsley is a poor town financially and there are just too many other things for people to spend their hard earned cash on when things are tight.
It'll be interesting how many show up when the price is so cheap for the Blackpool game. I still don't think there'll be a massive increase. Once people get out of the habit it's very difficult to win them back. I'll make an early crowd prediction for Blackpool game and go for 11,520. There will be 2,500 ish away fans in that too.

Doen't matter what they charge, the same bare 8000 will turn up. Next game should be a tester and give all the moaners no excuse, but I'll tell you what - we still won't get a big crowd. If it was for nowt some would have anexcuse as to why they couldn't(or wouldn't) come.

    Last post sums it up.

You can go down Oakwell Monday ask for a £5 saver stamp towards next season and do same week after. But folk won't and rather say cant come too much

They're not killing it, were struggling to compete with funds as it is, they can't lower them much more. People are skint, knocking a couple of quid of won't change anything.

I've said this hundreds of times to fellow Barnsley fans, Why are we not doing incentives with the local schools, we need to get kids in to the habit of watching Barnsley at a young age we need to win them over before they are corrupted by the likes of the manchester and london teams. We all know that for the big games all the woodwork fans come out and our gates nearly double but these people will never become week in week out supporters, they are out of the habit and are unlikely to change, we need to start thinking about the next generation of supporters. If we gave free tickets to school kids and just required teachers and volunteers at the school to chaperone them we could at least get the noise and atmosphere in the ground up. why have empty seats when we could have them filled with 5-16 year olds who will spend on foot, shirts programs ect. I can't see how any paying fans could resent this. We can stick them in the half of the west stand that's never used. How are we going to ever make oakwell a fortress with so many empty seats??

This has been explained before, the club has in the past done this, but the uptake has been poor because there isn't many teachers prepared to open them selves up to possible legal action if any thing goes wrong. Before anybody comes back with derogatory remarks about teachers, let me just say that my son is a teacher and some of the things he has told me makes me wonder why any teacher would do any kind of extra curicular activity at all.
