As said in a number of other threads, the standard price is too high, and they make it far too difficult to take advantage of discounts. Probably not going to see £20 tickets on the gate (which I think would eventually increase crowds significantly) but even bringing it down to £25 on the gate would surely do something. For me, anything above £25 is a psychological barrier.
Never whilst the current board remain. Gave up on worrying about it, in fact l had a ticket offered today for a fiver and didn't bother returning the call. Didn't fancy sitting in a soulless less than half full Oakwell, staring at red seats.
I think I might attend the next club/supporters meeting and vent my frustration about this. 99% of the feedback I have had as to why my mates haven't attended games is because of the price!
i sit in east lower when i go .only 2 years ago there were 10 to 15 of us going .now lucky to have 4 or 5 of us there .too deer and can,t be arsed going
special thanks to the bloke outside the ponty end, i was just about to pay £46 for lad n me, he offered us use of his spares for a tenner, still gave him a twenty.
£28 tickets that nobody buys or £20 tickets that some people will buy - I really don't see why they continue with the pricing structure. The only thing I can see is that they are maybe thinking of getting the money off away fans at the expense of alienating home fans. Whichever way you look at it, it's pathetic.
Can I just add, I don't think it would make much difference. The ***** we are doing at the mo, not many will come if its a tenner. Just have to feel for the ones that do pay and continue to. Cos if I didn't have my ST I wouldn't be going full stop. Even it if was free
Today was a massive oppo missed to make it £10 & £5 and really fill the place at Xmas and to get behind the team!! Plenty of home games coming up and boxing day would have been a great match to make the most of people available. Like I keep saying, it's not as if 1000's are coming through the gates per game, it's down to 100's. So even at £28/£25 we aren't making much money, we have to fill the stands and back the team to have any chance in 2013. It might also get people into coming back long term as well!! Cheap prices will also attract bigger away support, we have 6000 seats to fill so lets go for it and see what happens.....Over to you Don, long term thinking is needed, you and the board are/have killed this club!!!!!! I'm sick of it, but will still be there on Saturday. I really think we need to start a protest at games towards the board, I still back Keith Hill even though I don't always agree with some of the decisions. I really can't stand our off field team, it's laughable!! I told my brother who is an Ipswich fan what Don Rowing said about the FA Cup game when I said to Don I'm not happy I can't buy my own seat, Don's words while smiling was "take your pass" My brother said for a guy in such a major role at a club to say something like that is unreal. Yes I know the crowd will be awful and does it really matter if I can't sit in it etc, but that's not really the point!!!
I think quite a few ST holders are feeling the same way. I'm close to the point of giving up, I'm so sick of watching the same ***** week after week. Price is secondary for me right now because free is too much to watch the crap we are getting right now.
see my post above, a guy had 3 spare books! granted they could have had prior plans, but still found other more important things to do! btw, i didn't think we played too badly considering the weather, at least we made it consistent by putting the sprinklers on before even though heavy rain was forecast :-0
Rowing is obviously not smart enough for the job. 9000 x £28. £252000. 12000 x £20. 240 000 Lost £12000. Not really because season tickets and lesser student and kids are not in the equation. Also 3000 more crowd, some will buy food and franchise. I would estimate a break even position. If not quite, then 12000 is better support for team than 9000.
Well with no trains or buses running I would imagine a good few couldn't get. I know at least two or three people who couldn't have gone today due to lack of public transport. Five behind me couldn't get cos they rely on train, so that may be a contributory factor. But apathy is as much of a problem as price. Most people I know who weren't there today probably could afford it, just couldn't be bothered. And to be honest, if I had something better to do, I'd have considered missing today. People are fed up of watching a stuggling team. In addition, we've been in this league for seven years, so most folk have seen us play the same teams year in year out. When you're struggling to scrape a point at home to Leicester/Derby/Burnley/Ipswich/Watford/Birmingham etc, it gets boring and the casual fan doesn't like boring! By the way, look at the 800ish fans from Birmingham... they brought thousands a few years ago. I doubt all were put off by the price. They're another club who's fans appear sick of under-achievement.
Anyone who thinks people are going to pay £56 over the xmas period to watch a home side who have won 1 in 13 and are atrocious at home is stark raving mad. Just for comparison in league 2 today: 10500 at Rotherham 7300 at Chesterfield.
If Hill and Rowing sing they want to keep off (We will never walk alone), because both of them will be doing so shortly
I've quoted these to make a point. It's not the pricing it's the results. If we were winning half our matches at home, both these two would have gone.
