Points on your licence are active towards a ban for 3 years from the date of the conviction. They have to stay recorded on your licence for 4 years from the date of conviction. The conviction, however, is not considered spent until 5 years after the event and must therefore be declared for insurance or on job applications where driving history is pertinent for this period. So if the three years is up, your heart will stop racing so much every time you pass a speed camera at 32mph but it's not the end of the story yet. It nearly is for me, however, as my last conviction was on 29/07/01. I won't be driving again today and I'll wake up a free citizen of the realm tomorrow.
1974 rehabilitation of offenders act points off licence after 3 years, fine declarable for 4 years, fixed penalty for 5 yrs. they come off ya licence after 3 years but you must disclose ya points to ya insurer up to 5 yrs legally. to many people make that mistake and cause them sen major probs
