Yes haveing just read about the increase,in Police road accidents,due to answerin 999 calls ETC Reminded me of the time going back to IMMINGHAM,and Approaching IMMINGHAM,my son was driving, when we were overtook by a Ford Capri,nowt special,nowt wrong,BUT,the Capri driver hit the Kerb to hard in front of us,SUDDENLY,a Car going the same way as us on the Motor way,was coming towards us,WELL,he lost the driver in trying to avoid us Tipped over Upside down he went..we stopped i jumped out got to the car got the Driver out un harmed(except for PRIDE) just got him to his feet when a COP CAR ,arrived on the scene,...Now he could not understand,how he got a999 call,froma place 8 miles from the scene,..Not until i showed him my CB radio,i was talking to this chap on the Radio,when it happened he rang 999,from Caister ...no harm done,for a change......the CAPRI a write off..it was a new one being delivered to a Garage in Immingham,from Hull... thanks for reading.....Barnsley will win today.....
RE:if u dont believ that,u wont believe this1,Korea1952 Whil driving,My leyland Hippo(YORKSHIRE TRACTION EXPRESS)Oh yes the Tracky were in Korea too.....(first thing i did when i got the truck painted that onfront)it was about 11 oclock am. we drove on the right hand side of the road,i had spotted a MP,(Militasy police )then about a mile further on another one( and i knew what it was,(YES)a ffing cop speed trap.what they used to do,time you ,radio ahead to the other car,we were allowed a 20mph speed limit,..well coming in the opposite direction was a bedford truck,going up front,wel going up front had the right of way,(BY THE BOOK)well this chap had to pass the jeep parked at the side of the road,well we collided ,but did not touch each other(HOW YOU SAY,)well we were that close,part of his truck cut the front neardside tyre of my truck,without punturing it....i had to go back to camp to change the wheel...i was automaticlt put on a Charge(SUMMONS),and the driver of the Bedford said the sun was in his eyes,at 11 am of the Morning,(its 11 am now go and see where the sun is....Oh nowt was done,no one got into trouble,just red tape ,it had to be dealt with. i got a new tyre and got on with job.......like Barnsley will to day........
CB radios used have a big home base thingy ..had some fun on that met some good people an all..plus got loads a work..word a mouth etc..hope you ok oldtimer..you sound in fine fettle...(Y)
