i can't reach the nest to put it back and next door have 3 cats.
it's running alongside the fence that it's mother is on chirping to it.
it's a plump little thing and would have flown up by now if it could.
do i let nature take it's course or how can i help it?

    cruel to be kind...............

bash it over the head-it won't survive and the cats will just play with it-I've done it loads of times

    fcukin' 'ell!

Ever thought of just leaving it be, instead of obliterating the poor little bas tard?

This happens all the time. It might hide and eventually survive.

I wasn't addressing my comments to you

Rather the person who was suggesting it as the thing to do.

Leave it be would be the best choice, if you caught it and put it back in the nest its mother could just chuck the thing back out?....

Best to Kill the three cats though just to be on the safe side.... (Y)

Whatever you do, don't touch it. Leave it where it is and it's mother will rescue it eventually nt

Abit different to what happened in our house yesterday!
Was just going upstairs when I could hear a bird but sounded alot closer than outside the open window. Popped my head around my eldest son's bedroom window and he had a bird sat on his pillow. Was only a small bird, was fun trying to catch it though!

update, we think it's moved right into the bottom of the garden

1 cat next door has tried to have a little lunch, but other birds are swooping to keep it away. the cat has been taken in for the night so we will see what happens

Right, leave it alone! If it's not injured just leave it or you can put it in a box and place off ground level so mother still can feed it. And, paul.d a bash to the head doesn't always kill them outright, plus its a criminal offence to cause an animal suffering, no matter what type of animal so I wouldn't suggest taking care of things your own way.

    put it in a shoebox......

......with some cotton wool to keep it warm.

give it some warm milk out of an eye-dropper.

later, try it with some small worms... put some spit on 'em so the chick thinks it has been brought by his mum...

video the whole project.... and later, write a movie and a soundtrack.

you could call it something like, say, Born Free....
